I like VB, Melbourne & Carlton. A box of either please![/b]

Luckydog,

Refreshing to see a man of tradition, loyal to the home made brews. My Grandfather, who lived in Melbourne was from the days of ice boxes but always kept is bottles of Melbourne Bitter under his bed to keep cool. He came from Irish stock, where room temperature beer was absolutely fine. Everytime I would visit him, he would offer me a beer. And each time I wouldn't have the heart to tell yhe dear man that beer was supposed to be served cold from the fridge.

Coopers is the best in my book,

though it packs the weight on me i believe it is strong and preservative free!!

If i gotta drink "regular beer" i drink cascade draught[/b]

And 2 very drinkable beers they are. Are you telling me Cascade is not a preservative fre traditional beer? I always presumed it was coming from the clean waters of Tassie..

Hoegaarden is nice, but I prefer Bitburger

Peroni Nastro Azzurro for me. Doesn't give me a hang over if things get out of control like some others and now you can pick it up for around $40 rather than the usual $60 it use to be, it's a winner......

Tempted to make some tasteless remark about a hoe and a burger...but even 2sheds has restraint....sometimes....

Gonna have to check out these beers. Are they freely available in Oz ?

Clearly you are not spending nearly enough time (or money) at your local Dan Murphys.

It is Saturday you know, they will be open soon.

VB. Vitamin B - for a hard earned thirst, you need a big cold beer, and the best cold beer is Vic, Victoria Bitter...

Norpus, you seriously telling me there is no difference? This is more controversial than PC vs Mac or Do cables make a difference...!!

Corona? VB?

While Coopers is my regular drink(usually Pale or Sparkling ale), I had a couple of bottles of Grand Ridge Gippsland Gold last week which is simply superb. I bought it at Dan Murphy's and it was cheaper than that link has it for. Mountain Goat High Tail Ale is fantastic too.

I'd like to know the age of these Corona beer drinkers. I bet they are under 40!!

This seems to be the latest 'thing' with the 30year olds from what I've seen.

Although I am a light-mid beer drinker these days, I wouldn't be calling myself a beer drinker if I had to mix anything with it to enjoy it- mm! a FAD maybe?

Yep im under 40, under 30 infact ( just! )

Normally at home I will drink Corona minus the lemon/lime - or whatever they are putting in them these days. The only time I have it with lemon is when I go to the pub and the bar staff assume that you want it and jam it into the neck of the bottle otherwise I prefer without.

This is pretty rare though as I will normally drink something on tap given the opportunity.

Dunno, Grumps.......but at our NYE party our next door neighbour was putting a slice of lime in each of his dozen or so Coronas and he's about 15 years older than me.

Doesn't rule out it being a fad, though....

But I certainly don't want to find bits floating in a glass of red...... :)

Cheers

Tony

Yea my kids are 32 and 27 and at Xmas they enjoyed a few Coronas when their freinds visited. It just seemed a bit of a novelty to this old Grump!!

G'day TonyM. If you pour one of those Coopers mild cans into a glass you will see things floating in your beer!

Nothing to do with me, but l can vouch for the beer. Beautiful stuff, almost as enjoyable as a nice Shiraz.

What, you have trouble slipping that word into a beer thread?? "I'm a bigger better aussie than you, and I can down more schooners and you'll be on the floor in no time...asunder a table"

well, that wasn't so good but you get the drift

OK smarty pants word users. Beer and wierd little words don't mix thank you very much until the wee hours, when one is blotto and it all makes sense.
