  • It is my slightly modded Rock.

  • This is the way it looks just now.   The open doors behind the speakers make a huge difference, no reflections from behind. plus 1st reflection points are so far away they don't interfere mu

  • The LK1 by Mike Lenehan, they still need to be finished but that means taking them out of the system.

Expensive?

Was $325 AUD for the stylus. Well worth the money. Took 8 weeks to arrive as they custom make it. It’s so good it rivals a 1.5k moving coil.

Hi Grumps, that Jico stylus for the V15 Type III probably is a SAS [Super Analog Stylus]

Cheers,

Yes, I must get around to looking at it.

I concur with @CaponeSteve. This is a very enjoyable system to listen to. The LK 1's image superbly and are very involving. I was particularly impressed by their off-axis capabilities. And that Rock turntable provides such stability  yet finely etched detail to vinyl reproduction. It's an aural treat! I'd go the whole hog Steve and paint 'em gloss white😎.

Cheers, Leon

So in fewer words,, it sounds good? 😜

A bit harsh 🙄.

Steve appreciates (and deserves) a bit more "wax lyrical" than that.

..........and it must be said, I've heard my fair share of systems over the years that sound good (or don't) for varying reasons. and I was attempting to explain (albeit inadequately) just why this one does.

Wasn’t trying to be harsh, I’m truly in awe of your description. Paints a picture. I’m an old school guy with little to average at best ability with the written language. I guess the smiley after my comment didn’t convey what I was expressing. My description when I rate the sound of a system goes something like, “could sound better”; “it sounds good”; or “it sounds great” (which is high praise from me) haha 😂

No worries. It sounded good😎

I never ever thought that I would consider moving the Castles on, but I have not used them for a while now.

I will put them back in the system while I finish the DIY speakers and sub, probably fall in love again lol.

Just re installed the Elekit Pre after upgrading the output caps with Z-caps. sounds nice from switch on.

Give it a few hours (maybe hundreds) for them to run in.

8 watts class A plus 250 watt sub is not too shabby.

Now I have taken out the sub and LK1 and replaced them with KEF 104aB.

Surprisingly good.

Moved the single chair out and replaced it with a plush lounge, this counteracts the harsh tiled floor.

I think it works.

Swapped out the ACA for an aging Musical Fidelity A1 and the KEFs for the Castle Howards.....................

Yup 20 watts instead of 8 helps the Castles.

I need to fix the M2X for sure.

I still have a soft spot for the A1 and A100. Great amps.
