Time to upgrade 1080p projector?

Featured Replies

Hi, many websites i have come across do not seemed to show convincing test results of the differences between the two.

Questions

1)Does those who upgraded to 1080p projector see noticeable results?

2)Wat differences do u notice?

3)How much is a full hd pj nowadays?(say optoma, panansonic, infocus and sanyo entry level brands)

thks a lot

First and foremost, between which two ? 720p vs 1080p projector you mean?

1) Yes, there's a noticeable difference and its hardware and software dependent - meaning the type of blu-ray player, AVR etc plays an important role.

2) To spot the subtle difference, you will need to have a bigger screen realty to spot it. Just like the general rule of thumb when purchasing Plasma or LCD HDTV sets, you will hear pple say that screen size of less than 42" inch will probably not notice any difference, hence the bigger the screen size, the easir for you to spot the difference.

3) 1080p projectors are leading the way now...720p is slowly phasing out in the market. The former pricing can range between mid $4K - $8K for a better specs one. Take a serious look at the more recent ones like Panasonic AE3000 (last heard stock depleting fast in the mkt), Mitsubishi HC7000 (with HQV Reon VX chipset) or even Epson's TW3000 and 4000 (comes with HQV Reon VX chipset just like Mitsubishi 1080 3LCD Projectors - e.g. HC7000). LCD black levels slowly catching up with DLP (albeit still not as good but definitely on par with some of the older generation TI DLP chipset)

Hoped it helps to answer some of your queries.
