No network save, and no internal amps... that means a significant outlay... Well someone could buy my 4 day old Denon 4520 at my cost and I will see...;)
kikoman Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Yes ! Great news. Pete, thanks for the info. It's time to retire my 4years plus AV8003.
Ian13 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 At last its coming, the new Marantz Pre/Pro is coming. Supposedly to be released in the US in December at a supposedly $3599 RRP. (US Dollars) Should be released here some time in the latter part of 2013. I have been waiting for this one hoping Marantz would top the AV7005 which i own and am totally happy with but really wanting a Pre/Pro that can do 11.2 channels, and now its a reality. Whoooo Hooooo. As mentioned it has 11.2 channels Balanced XLR's Audessey XT32 Audessey DSX and DTS NeoX Its looks are pretty much identical to the AV7005 looking forward to its release and the reviews coming out of the US more info can be found over at the AVS forum
betty boop Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 Good to hear Ian ! And finally with xt32 which the marantz units been wanting. Comes loaded like that be a pretty popular thing I reckon looks like based on denon 4520 ? and taking platform further.
Ian13 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 I must apologise for the lack of specs and other info on the unit, i am not up with how to get pics and links from one thread or website to another. The thread on the AVS forum is already 12 pages long and has pics of the units front and rear panels and some internals. lots of discussions about what it is based on and what its got
Ian13 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 (edited) Its thread is found in the Recievers, Amps and Processors section of AVS Forum It also has 32/192 DAC Its also made in Japan 4K/2K video I hope this link works below, its a pic of the rear panel http://www.avsforum.com/content/type/61/id/77235/ Edited November 7, 2012 by Ian13
Ian13 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Hey presto the link worked the first time i tried it you learn something everyday
Ian13 Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 More pics now that i know how to do it http://www.avsforum.com/content/type/61/id/86776/ http://www.avsforum.com/content/type/61/id/86777/ http://www.avsforum.com/content/type/61/id/86779/ http://www.avsforum.com/content/type/61/id/86781/
Quark Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 It does look interesting! Nice to see some more pre/pro competition.
petetherock Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Interesting bits: - XLR - toroidal transformer - copper plating reminds me of my SR 12 - XT 32 For me the icing is - legacy RC 5 remote - I can press my SR 12 into use as a power amp - HDAM modules The MM 8077 looks nice too
Ian13 Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 I'm also hoping that the two front side panels are not plastic like they are on the AV7005. It looks a tad tacky with the two different finishes, better if it is all metal/aluminium with the same paint finish. Would look alot classier for their flagship model.
brodricj Posted November 8, 2012 Posted November 8, 2012 4 10/100 LAN ports and 3 HDMI out, never seen that on a pre-pro before.

iceblade88 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Hi, I have SR6006 with CDP SA-8003, paired with Monitor Audio RS-8. I feel that it is lacking of that openess when comes to stereo playback. Not sure whether I should add a 2 channel pre or power. In term of gain; what route would you recommend? Any other route? I am more inclined to power though my friends recommend pre with HT bypass. Thank you.

Must say can't fault the 7005, it's performed flawlessly. For that money $1699 and if you have no need for 11.2 or Audessey 32 then i say do yourself a favour. the only reason i'm even considering the 8801 is for the capability of 11.2.
Quark Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 The US Marantz site has the specs as only Audyssey XT, not XT32. That kills my interest. Amazon has the 7701 for $1700 - grab a step down transformer and its good value.

All the guys in the know over at AVS Forum have said that it definately has the long awaited XT32. I suppose until one of them gets their hands on the unit in early December we will have to wait and see. I'm confident that it will have it this time around for the Flagship model.

Chops the integra has xt32 ? That would be the decider. I'd pass on the marantz av7005 as it doesn't. Xt32 is really worth it !

Quark the marantz pres basically denon equilaent Avrs with torroidal supply and better analog stage using a step down would partially negate the power supply benefits.

Ian, I think they're referring to the upcoming 8801, not the 7701 Chopsus referred to. Given the 67% price difference on the 7701 between Us and Aus, not holding my breath for local pricing on the 8801 to be lower than the Integra 80.3. We get bent over again by local distributors...

Agree Al, a step down transformer is less than ideal, but unlike an AVR/amp, no real risk of power supplies overheating due to core saturation caused by 60Hz / 50Hz difference.
