UPDATE (Thursday 8:40PM) Some events have transpired which mandates an update to you all. As many of you will know, the Grover Notting speakers we will have on Sunday are designed, manufactured and sold by Frank Hinton of Classic Audio Designs in Melbourne. The news I have is that Frank himself will be attending our club meeting. Frank will also be bringing in other speakers within the Grover Notting Universal Series range. For more information, please refer to: Grover Notting Universal Series.

The following is a re-issue of the previous meeting notice with some added content. Thank you…

Tom Waters

The next meeting of Sydney Audio Club sees us once again at Dence Park for an afternoon of fine music and sound and convivial company.

Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. It's a bit like a private audio show once a month where you can hear and discuss equipment that you might not otherwise have the chance to audition. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

This month we have what promises to be a wonderful sonic match – Grover Notting Studio monitors driven by PrimaLuna valve amplification and valve CD player, plus a high spec Once Analog turntable (by Vince Hamilton).

Any frequent attendee at our Club Meetings will be familiar with Once Analog turntables. These tables are designed and manufactured by Vince Hamilton. Warren Marshall will be bringing in his new Once Analog turntable. It is a highly modified table complete with Audio Origami PU7 tone arm and will be presented with either the Alpha Genesis 1000 or Shelter 501 Mk2 cartridge (yet to be decided), both recently re-tipped. The Alpha Genesis has been rebuilt with the Soundsmith ruby cantilever and contour nude diamond tip. Phono stages will be his recently modified Jasmine Audio LP2.0 Mk2 and also a JLTi (from Custom Analogue Audio). Warren will also bring his TTWeights Mega periphery ring weight.

The PrimaLuna equipment will be kindly provided by Tony Wong from Len Wallis Audio. We will have the ProLogue Premium Pre Amplifier, the ProLogue Premium Monoblock Power Amplifiers (KT88 tubes) and the ProLogue Classic CD Player. PrimaLuna has received many great reviews around the world for their high performance yet real-world priced products.

The Grover Notting speakers will be the Code 1.5, Code 4 and the Code 5 studio monitors. These speakers are within the Universal Series. All Grover Notting speakers are designed, manufactured and sold by Frank Hinton of Classic Audio Designs in Melbourne. The crossover in these speakers was designed by none other than Dr Neville Thiele. We had the distinct pleasure of listening to the Code 102, Code 4 and Code 1.5 speakers at the Grover Notting event hosted by the Sydney Audio Club and AIM (Australian Institute of Music) in July. For more information about this show, please refer to Grover Notting Show report. On Sunday we will likely listen mostly to the larger Code 5 speakers.

We will also have our popular BYO music session where at least half of the music program is presented by the members. So bring along your favourite discs (vinyl or CD) to share. All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.

Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others of similar mind.

Members and Guests welcome - we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.

Venue: Epping Creative Centre

Address: 26 Stanley St Epping

Doors open 1pm

Meeting starts at 2pm.

See you there.

Best regards,

Tom Waters
