Nothing on the Australian Yamaha site yet. But I'm sure there will soon be.

So looks like a free board replacement. This is a much better response than Denon's response to the issue.

It is great news that Yamaha are doing the right thing by consumers that is for certain. So consumers can purchased one of their new HDMI 2.1 AVR's knowing it will perform as advertised.

Very poor effort by Denon only offering adapter and not replacement board unlike Yamaha. I have had very good experiences with Yamaha in the past they will always try to do there best to solve issues for customers.

yamaha have definitely out manoeuvred denon in this debacle... though the difference is the denon "fix" doesnt require back to base and is free supply to you...

yamaha couldn't do what denon is doing as would need three boxes :D

if a denon owner i feel its really simple, if the denon offer is not to your expectation ie what you paid for...stand your ground and talk to retailer. we have consumer protection in this country... :)

But dosent the adopter that Denon offer still degrades the quality of the signal. I doubt if Yamaha did look at doing a adapter they wouldn't as it would degrade the product and they would cop a bit of a backlash from consumers. As you say it is is up to the Denon user to take it back to the retailer. Like i said i have always had good customer service from Yamaha.

says who it degrades the signal ? the boards yamaha and denon are using have same chip. denon is doing same as yamaha with the release shortly where the board has same change implemented. but in mean time both companies have just gone seperate paths on the interim change... the denon approach for existing owners is just easier to deploy and logistically much easier for both end user and local agents... if folks want to hold ground on the board with denon just hold ground... re customer service ... i can only commend the the last two importers fo denon and marantz products... i have never had a issue with regards customer service ... its more like white glove service actually... but that said any dealings with regards your purchases in australia you need to have with your retailer .... who sell you the item. that is who is held to account with our consumer rights :)

A few things to note with this whole saga 1. Yamaha have little choice in this to do anything but supply a brand new 2.1 compliant board as their models include for example the rx v6a which has 3 inputs that can be upgraded to 4k/120 8k/60 and all the other 2.1 features

2. Denon Marantz can fudge it with a dongle that only converts 1 port alone as thats it for the lower lines  3.  If theres any future 2.1 sources  the yamahas are more future proof .. or  indeed someone who runs a ps5 and x box x :$

So it comes down to expediency or a little effort for more gain ... All in all a good example of being an eager beta tester and waiting a little while for a gain :)
