Recently stocked-up on a decent easy-drinker - one bottle for home and one bottle for the office drinks cart ;)

Yes, it’s part of the Diageo stable (from the "Flora and Fauna series") and has a healthy dose of E150a colouring, but at $70 per bottle on Amazon (down from $150+) it’s a great price for a 16 year old.

Jeez that is a dark complexion...almost black as a guinness ...clear glass bottle, white background and a bright light...with a hint of paler brown on the right hand side...surrounded by lighter colours.

Just wonder whether the whiskey has been Oloroso sherry monstered...need a dram or two just to be sure...before I invested in a bottle or two.

And at 46 years old...might need a fair bit of breathing time in the glass before opening up and revealing it's best...46 years is a long time in a barrel.

Recommended breathing time is around a minute a year...46 minutes before imbibing?!?

Ought to come with an accompanying complimentary bottle of Guiness Stout to help out with the waiting time. pre-rotfl1.gif.77c9bc3fcac89a84fb4ca8a6ca446bfb.gif pre-mhihi.gif.71cd2e3046dd25cccf1ae344642eb073.gif

Killara Laphroaig Finish.
Simply awesome

Oh yes, I do like that glass!

That one, with all the ridges, would sit comfortably in hand after a few, no slippage there! 🙂

Not enough exploration of Whiskey tumblers/glasses in my book!

Little glasses that one canna get their large snoza into/park for a decent sniff, like my beauty, are an abomination!

It has a good bit of weight to it as well. Lovely to hold and a level up over the standard Glencairn glasses

This one is only for the big boys...no wimps here please...

I like the A.R. Rye Malts...it never disappoints...has a loverly flavour profile...a light chrissy cake...wafts tight aromas at the bottom of which hides sweetness...as it airs it gets pleasanter...vanilly nougat...but not over whelming...this is a man's drink not a bottle of perfume!

I find you have to sneak up on this drop...let it sit...5 minutes I reckon is just about right...nice legs show up on the sides of the clear drinking glass when tilting to check the colour.

Resist the temptation to gulp...if you do ignore that prewarning...be prepared for a coughing fit of epic proportions...and hot salty tears that rapidly fill your eyes like hot rising bubbly milk...coarse heavy breathing, like doing a marathon, to regain one's composure...as the back of one's throat is seared with a red-hot poker...like a strong chilli meal heavily overdone...

No discernable words come forth for at least half a minute...just mousey gibberish...

It is rated at close to 71 purr cent alcohol...cask strength...ignore that minor detail at your own peril.

Little baby steps of sipping is the recommendation...

Little sippies...no burn to the mouth...be totally brave and roll it around the mouth before swallowing. It's not oily to the tongue just a clean watery feel to the mouth that leaves no coating...and a pleasant vanilly nougat sensation...swallow too much and you miss that vanilly nougat signature profile...with a sudden whiplash burn...

Then be prepared for the bushfire to rage across your black guts.

Do not bother calling the CFA...the burn off will be sudden, fierce, and leave a shocked expression and a lingering warm feeling...that a hot cup of tea would love to emulate.

Other than that...enjoy...sveiks!

PS...I forgot to mention the packaging...first class effort...must add dollar$ to the co$t of its making...but gee it feels nice and is a pleasure to look at.

Damn shame to ditch it...kudos!

Love the A'Bunadh - one of the best Speysides and the best of Abelour (IMO).

I'd better make a special trip out there in a few minutes...even without the extra 10% it's a good deal!

It truly is!!

They make them so hard to pour!!!

Looks like a bent wheel from a hipster bicycle rider...after too many whisky snifftas!:hyper:

Other than that, that bent bicycle wheel idea is the best looking pourer of whiskies I have seen...very clever. Just need a big enough side table to place it on...or...or...a taller side table than where you are sitting...and tip the lot gently into the mouth...saving on glasses!

Oh and that Aberlour is one of the great whiskys...time to fire up the old Subbie!

A little update on this one - it is going down a treat both at work and at home. A bit more body than your average Speyside and very quaffable!
