There is a lot of ventilation at the rear you cant see. That said, the entire front joinery is getting re-done later this year and equipment racks are being installed.

Big update.. it's taken many months, but the new custom cabinetry at the front is now finished to house the 2.7metre wide screen. All the equipment is now in roll out racks in the joinery behind a removable kicker. Lots more drawer storage for DVD's as well. All the work was done by Temple Cabinets - superb job and could not be happier.

One thing I decided to do was to make the doors over the equipment out of speaker cloth so the remotes would work without the doors open and because I dont want to get a control system.  In the images you can see the lights on the gear - but I have now set the equipment front panel displays to off.

Quick summary of current equipment as so much as changed since this journey began:

Projector: Barco Bragi CinemaScope 5K Projector (this is the best projector I have ever owned - its incredible).

Screen: Severtson SAT 4k Acoustically transparent 2.39:1 2.7 metre wide screen

Video Processing: Lumagen Radiance Pro - Calibrated by Tony O'brien

Surround Processor: Storm Audio ISP Core 16 Immersive Sound Procesor

Amplification: 2 x Cary Audio  Cinema 5 Power Amplifiers

3 x M&K MP300 THX Ultra II LCR Speakers

2 x M&K S300 THX Ultra II Tripole Surround Speakers

4 x Triad In-Ceiling Silver Monitor ATMOS Speakers

1 x M&K X15+ THX Dominus Subwoofer

1 x M&K X12 THX Ultra II Subwoofer

1 x Panasonic UDP9000 4K UHD DVD Player

1 x Oppo Blue Ray Player

1 x Apple TV 4k

1 x ISOTek Aquarius Power conditioner

There are a lot of acoustic treatments in the room including 4 Bass traps, diffusion, absorption etc.

Next month the Projector is going into a custom made hush box. Just waiting on the cabinet maker to finish building and come and install. Then will do a final audio calibration to finish it off. I will be done for a while after that...

Yeah control systems are awesome - when they work!  KISS is my philosophy with this stuff.

"Lots more drawer storage for DVD's" - dude, you need to discover the Bluray.  It's going to blow your mind...

I thought the Carey amps were gone?  What happened to the Storm?

Great to see you have dual subs running.  Just the best investment I made was moving to dual subs and pro calibration - wow!  Of course mine are 18" each...   EDIT:  oops, better throw in one of these 🤣

Love the recessed screen, I'm jealous, that would really make the image pop.

Let me know when it's movie night, I'll bring the beer.  Lol.

In all seriousness, congrats on an awesome set-up, it's a ripper.

Ahhh, I see.  Storm's in the distance, on the horizon, so to speak.   Problem is, when you have an itch, you have to scratch it and can't rest until you do.  That's the problem with this hobby, you rarely sit still.

I finally pulled the trigger and purchased the Storm Audio High Powered 8-channel Power amp. Installed it two days ago and full recalibration of the Storm Core 16 with DIRAC ART. Not much more to say than Wow! Increased dynamics, better fine detail at the top end, better slam and impact and even cleaner sound. Very happy with this upgrade - not inexpensive (I think RRP on the Storm power amp is around $16k). Only regret, I did not do it sooner. I will probably buy a 2nd one for the atmos channels next year.

Next up is an upgrade of the ATMOS channels from the TRIADS to some Ascendo Speakers. This will come later this year.

Another update is incoming: Waiting on delivery of a Kaleidescape Strato V and Terra Prime Server.

An Update: The Kaleidescape Strato V and Terra Prime server have arrived and have now been installed. I have used various other media servers over the years: Plex, etc. But Kaleidescape has the nicest UI I have experienced. This is not a system for everyone. If you are into DIY, there are lots of other cheaper solutions out there. I decided Kaleidescape was the right product for me as I did not want something I have to 'manage'. Just wanted an out of the box solution that works. I have only watched a few movies so far - but the 4k bit rate on the downloads I have done is higher than the 4K UHD physical discs, and it does show. Cleaner image and some more fine textural details.

I went with the Strato V and the compact Terra prime server 24 TB. Enough for about 350 4K titles.
