Got offered one of these (42") for $2600 yeseterday but still haven't seen enough content or reviews on it to form a solid opinion. I can't say I have seen the panel personally, however, anecdotally $2.6k for a 42" LG panel seems expensive. Surely for that kind of money you can pick up a 50" ?
digitalhome Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I put a 42inch one up on the wall today. In fact, I quite like it! Great remote control, black levels we still not to plasma quality, but I would say the best from LG. Had no issues with 1:1 pixel mapping with a HTPC I connected to it via HDMI, in-built speakers average for sound quality. So not a bad product, from LG.
BXT Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 My brother just bought one of these in 47in with 3yr warranty + HDMI cable for $2800....quite a nice screen/decent value for money really when you compare the equivalent sony.
Serge24 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Anyone seen these and formed an opinion yet? I have just installed the 47 inch LG LCD, I had originally purchased the Panasonic TH-P50S10A, a 50 inch Plasma, which was nice but did not fit on my cabinet due to the large base, i was forced to return it, I am glad that this happened because I think the LG LCD has a much better picture, Blu Ray, PS3 and HDTV all look great, better than I had expected, was a bit disappointed with the Panasonic picture quality, it was a bit dull and needed a lot of screwing around to get the picture looking nice, I ended up getting the picture to look good, but compared to the LG LCD it was still not as good, the LG straight out of the box had a great picture, wife who knows nothing about TV's said it looked way better than the Pana Plasma, but she also said the Pana Plasma was **** hot when we got that, but now that she has seen the LCD she says that the LG is by far superior, picture quality wise, I paid 2800 for it, the Pana was 2000, so it was a bit more expensive, but well worth it in mt opinion, another good point is that it uses less power than the plasma, and weighs less, a bad point is that all the connections are on the on the back. Overall though, I am really happy with it, its the first LCD I have owned and I am satisfied, Blu Ray looks like its in 3D (wife comment) she really really likes it. I have it hooked up through yamaha amp so don't use the sound on TV.
rollobot Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 (edited) Can't speak for the 42/47" models, but I am interested in the 37" model. Compared it to several other 37" models at JB HiFi recently, and, as far as pic quality goes, it was easily the pick of the litter. The 37" Panasonic that was next to it didn't have anywhere near the LG's clarity. As usual, though, it all comes down to personal choice. All the reviews (if you can find any, that is) and "expert" opinions in forums like this run a very poor second to what appeals to your eyes and ears. Edited September 21, 2009 by rollobot
Guest scorpian007 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 The picture quality is okay on it but the 200Hz is implemented very badly on it from what I've seen at work.
Guest targus Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 The picture quality is okay on it but the 200Hz is implemented very badly on it from what I've seen at work. Here's the US Review ... note its LH55 which had added Interent functions & 100Hz Truemotion http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lcdtvr...h55-review.html
