ABC and widescreen particualry the news

Featured Replies

Is it just me or did the ABC news in Brisbane use to be in widescreen. I am sure it was a few months ago. Now it is definitely in 4:3.

No it couldn't of been,

the 6:00 promo is zoomed in to 14:9 but thats it

they move into thier upgraded studio this wednesday (the 17th) and since we were the last studio to go digital, the ABC should be doing all thier studio stuff in widescreen soon (News, 7:30, Stateline etc)

i would say it will take maybe a month to get all the new graphics and opening titles done for 16:9 and then it will be digital all the way

but could someone answer me somthing?

i am on holidays on the coast and have been watching analoge TV with terrible reception, but it looks like channel ten have put in better cameras for thier news, have 10 bris swapped to widescreen news yet? or is it still as terrible as ever...

Definitely not widescreen yet, still as terrible as ever

Maybe just my place but ten is definitely wide here in Bris. Not the location stuff but he studio is broadcasting widescreen. Is there a difference that i have missed?

Thanks for the news on ABC as well I will watch with anticipation. Must have just been a hazy neuron.

were you watching the weekend or late news?

they come out of sydney or melbourne and 10 news is widescreen down there

Ten's 5 o'clock news is definitely still 4:3. Worse than just 4:3 though, the picture quality is quite bad really (I'm refering to footage shot in the studio by the way, not content they don't really have much control over). Compared to the news on Nine which is pretty much DVD quality, Ten's really looks like it is NTSC over a CVBS cable (with assorted dot crawl and chroma problems). Not pretty watching.
