Starting the WE with a rhymer.

After a week of oppressive (no wind) 30 - 35+ temps, today was still bloody hot so 10 minutes in the fridge now and again while drinking maintained a better drinking temp.

I need to revisit Dalrymple... Was put off years back, might be worth another try.

  • Happy father's day to those who are celebrating it.   Caught up with some SNA folk yesterday. Quite the headache today..   @metal beat @Viognier @klackto

  • Very good cool climate wine and certainly good value compared to the Clonakilla flagship. Co-fermented with 5% Viognier. Has the classic Canberra Shiraz white pepper.

  • Had a great lunch at Oncore by Clare Smyth yesterday. Very very exe wine list, so did matching wines..  grabbed an extra glass of this Neb.   Views speak for themselves

My previous notes (33333) for 2019 are in the "OK" range.

I have 2016 as well, which was "good" as a baby, but recent tastes are "nuh". It died pretty early. (44443332322)

Cheers mate. I can see they have some single vineyard releases. Might see how they go.

I’d blame the cigars.. that high quality booze won’t be at fault. 😊

It’s pretty likely. I’m not a smoker, but last night was a bit of an outlier. I was shocked to see a single cigar cost as much as a decent bottle of grape juice.

Better I stay with the fluid.

Selecting a rhymer for tonight.

The 2021 of POCW Between 2 Mountains is drinking well so time to see how the 23's are getting on.

Happy hot Saturday from the West 🥵

They were family owned then got bought out. Winemaker bought Delamere (worth checking out). Back then they were great wines, since the sale fair to good.

Somehow got a hankering for aged Pennies. Thanks @AccMagi7s 😂

Used the Ah-so as I always worry about old corks but this was a good one. Tasting pristine, a wine where Penfolds ‘Rewards of Patience’ is not just marketing hype.

the Monnot white burgs certainly deliver. They don't have the cult status of some but it is a good thing while it lasts. Cheeky photo to include the 'custom' center speaker stand in the HT setup. Just the right height to get the center below Samsung panel.

BTW the box is empty.

I've always enjoyed the 2010 and 2012 vintages; they really have a special charm. They're quite hard to find these days, and when they are available, they usually cost around $140 each.

Staying at Noojee in the hills, fantastic wood fired pizza washed down with Tyrells Rufus Stone Heathcote shiraz.

Very enjoyable rich wine, while not expensive it over delivers on value and quality! 👍

Thanks DC, found some small stock still available at Prince WS. 👌

Today’s rhymer

This and the Anim Abel for $75 are absolute bargains for what you get.

A lovely drop. Better the second night than the first...

An icy-cold slightly sweet to combat yesterday's silly weather (30+, humid, no wind)

Today's. Better today, so hopefully back to normal. A small French family vineyard, so may have some different ideas re a Semillon. A "honeysuckle" character not seen in many others now. Vaguely recall it from the olden days.

My first look at Sentio from Beechworth Vic.

Consider me impressed with this well priced Chardonnay.

I am told the Gamay is very good also.

Happy Tuesday team 🙏

Last night's. Excellent, but off course the last one. A heap of medals etc so the judges liked it too.

Even though it's well over 30deg again, I thought bger-it, I'm doing a red with steak.

Mount Pleasant OP & OH 2018 Shiraz. A big strong intense flavoursome thing with decades to go. Some very old vines still in use.

IMO Mt Pleasant individual vineyard stuff needs at least 10 years before they "relent", even the Lovedale whites.

Starting to get pricey but isn't everything. Reduced prices if you are a "member". I get 6 x Rosehill and 6 x OP & OH each year and occasionally other stuff throughout the year.

Tonight (and last night's) drop was another lovely one from mum's collection. Lots of lovely grape and delicious sweet red plum with tannins almost gone. I think there's a 2014 and a 2015 of this also.

(for those unaware, mum passed in Feb last year after a year or so of MND)

Happy Hump Day Team!!

Jeeze, this is tasty, so much going on. Bargain really.

Great Chardonnay, drank a bit of this over the journey.

Wow, 2016 must be interesting Mark.

Happy Wednesday!

Really enjoying this tonight.

It was Steve, we also had this Artus , a year younger and from the opposite side of Margs it was great to compare. The Artus having a lot more room for aging which was nice to discover.

Time to rearrange the white wine shelves I think.

My old man bought a six pack if these on spec. Turned out to be too big for him so I inherited the remaining five bottles.

A Montepulciano/Cesanese blend from the Lazio Region. It’s in the decanter having a breathe as it certainly needs it.
