It might have been a CellarmastersWoolworthsDorrien proprietary label but was a rather good Limestone Coast Cab. The "Icon" attribute suggests they thought it good too.

Last one.

There was a point in time that the Dorrien (Cellarmasters) operation turned out some high quality wines. The wine making team was very good and had access to some very smart vineyards.

Happy rhyming Thursday team.

This is aging beautifully, and still 4 to go.

Such a shame he has left the industry.

Agree Steve,

I get the occasional emails when they sell off some museum stock (as I'm sure you do too). I may have one or two left..... Crazy that I picked up the 2016 from Winestar as a mystery wine.... (well, it's not hard to work out what the mystery wine actually is - but I mean price wise).

Getting some airtime for later, happy Friday

lance vineyard close planted pinot noir 2024 — Bicknell FC

From the 1989 Mv6 block with 8,300 plants/hectare and cropped at 6.5 t/Ha. Hand picked on the 19th of February with 100% whole berries sorted to fermenter. After two weeks fermenting on skins it was p

< The 2024 Lance Close Planted Pinot Noir hails from the Lance vineyard in St. Andrews in the Yarra Valley. MV6 clone was closely planted to 8,300 vines per hectare in 1989. On the nose, the oak is more evident here than in the Applecross Pinot Noir from the same vintage, yet the fruit here wears it with ease, rising up above it on the palate. Profoundly pretty, pure and elegant, this is a wine of ethereal grace and yet power. I like it so much, for different reasons than the Applecross—a wine for each mood. This is awesome. 12.7% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.  95 Points, drink 2025 - 2039.  Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate. Published: Sep 19, 2025 >

There Is Still A Qvevri About Stalin's Wine Cellar - Food...

Georgian-born Stalin was a man of contradictions but even more intriguing is the question of what happened to Stalin's wine cellar.

BoF 2012 Chardonnay

I may have left this a bit too long. Still OK/good but past its peak. Only 1 left now.

A tip off from our resident expert @Mendes arrived today. Normal procedure is to let it settle and wait at least a week. But, mr impatient had to try it. Lovely stuff, and some logic did prevail that I will save the rest after two glasses. See how it goes tmrw or Sunday.

Banging bargain

A tip off from our resident expert

Not sure about expert, but have looked at a heck of a lot of different wines of all types over the journey 😅

Our expert would be our resident MW (master of wine) @DRC , now that's an expert 🙏

Today’s lineup.

Very warm here in Sydney town. Must rhyme and hydrate.

Some Beechworth Chardonnay to kick off Saturday night

IMG_3605.jpeg

Family dinner with my brother tonight.

He has great taste from- my cellar, bless him.

The Prelude Chardonnay is a very serious wine in 2023, shaded the Sorrenberg, wow what a wine, can be got for $34-, ridiculous!!

Happy Saturday

IMG_5651.jpeg

Been keeping a keen eye out for the 23 Prelude but no luck nearby.

Did manage to grab a few Art Series fro ReStore today though👍

Just had a look and my online source is now sold out of 23 also.

Another great night with Mr and Mrs Mendes….

Some lovely wines, had with some grass fed ribeye steaks. Great lineup with the Barolo impressing in spades. The Wynns was the lowest price bottle, but still delivered. Fresh as a daisy and could have easily gone another 10 years.

A nice drop to have with pizza on a Saturday night, Beautiful balance and a joy to imbibe!

My daughter’s wedding yesterday. Recovery BBQ today so I get to drink my new son-in-laws wine. This is a cracker with the spit roast lamb.
