would have been very happy with an SR-838 or 929 to complete the Sansui series but yeah the Pioneer does fit with the rest of my gear. Have you seen the Pioneer 'EXclusive Only' thread on Audiokarma? ... so much beautiful looking gear.
I'm not positive, but I recon that Pioneer is a cut above in the performance stakes :)

Ah! I'll have to check that one out :)

Looking good Mark. Enjoy.

Vintage systems just have a certain appeal. Gorgeous stuff Mark.

thanks unclemack. Yeah have to agree there is something about 70's hi-fi that is appealing, when it was all about records and just 2 channels.

Damn that's a good looking setup!

cheers Dave.

well except for the carpet and curtains : ). Thanks houdinifangs

cheers John. I don't know if I could squeeze much more into that rack ... but I'm always looking ; )

I agree, some Purple Shag-pile instead, and Tie-died curtains would really set off the room

:P

And a 4' Lava Lamp :D

I miss the 70's :)

Aah very nice indeed Lebowski. Your system is coming together very nicely and they are all fine examples of the beautiful 70's era audio, in particular Sansui, before manufacturers all started looking the same as they do now.

Add the lava lamp too, I have one but again, make sure its an old one not a reproduction. Have to keep it authentic as far as possible.

some new additions to the 70's mancave - Sound Acoustics Bass Traps, TU-717 Super Tuner and Audio GD DAC-19DSP.

The bass traps have helped tame some low end resonance and enhance the soundstage. The TU-717 is unbelievably good, I have been listening to ABC Classic FM this afternoon and the sound quality in every way is incredible, pure analogue heaven. The DAC-19DSP arrived a few days ago and I've not had much time to listen to it so can't say how it compares to my Lavry DA-10.

Dare I say it..... you've got a great looking rack............

Finally got the matching tuner......excellent ;)

Does it sound better than the TU-517?

I've had a TU-217 and 417 both excellent tuners. The 717 does sound less like FM radio and much closer to good vinyl playback on high quality broadcast like ABC Classic FM. I'd expect the TU-517 to sound as good or very close to the 717.

Looking great Mark - nice to see the system evolve..

Still can't get over how great those speakers look

Lookin' good Mark!

Ah! I had the models mixed up thinking you replaced a TU-517 ;)

I have read that the 517 is very good, but the 717 is a little better.

Dig the color scheme.

Looking good Lebowski , I have the same traps , and after purchasing and extra two to place on top of the existing two was impressed with the

gain , tightened up the bass even more IMO , and they sit on top of each other no problems.

Cheap improvement too if the visual doesn't worry you.

Regardless I'd reckon you'd have a pretty sweet thing goin' on.

A Beautifully put together system.

Nice new additions Mark.

the Austrian's sure know how to craft speakers. They have about 100 hours or so on them now and sounding better than ever

Lookin' good Mark!

cheers Pete. Thanks again for the advice on the DAC-19 it does synergise well with vintage Sansui Amps

yeah they are large Bass Traps for sure, I was thinking of doing a stack. I couldn't get away with it if they were in the house but in the man-cave anything is possible
