its one of the problem I saw with the program was following recipes... since we have our own... good you found a way around just using as guidance.   I had my 4 week follow up with the doc.   we n

@blybo  You ride your bike to Tooradin, two piece rod and lures. you catch your fish, you ride home.

What could be simpler eh!

Could just imagine carrying fish and bait in a back pack. Nice. ARe they still recommending plastics for flathead? I never had much success that way, live bait was always my method of choice (when I could catch em).

In other news now down to 94.4 this morning, so 7.1kgs in 5.5 weeks. Pretty happy and the continual weight loss has made keeping motivated pretty easy. I knew the 3 big luncheons/dinners would come back off, just didn't expect it so quickly. Make me think that excess protein & fat is dealt with by the body as compared to excess carbs.

Funny I'm not missing beer either, have been having a few straight scotches a few nights a week and shared a 1/3 of a bottle of red on Saturday night. The great thing about this diet is I honestly don't feel like I'm depriving myself.

had a couple of beers end of yesterday blybo....but what do you do when visiting a brewery ? anyways stayed reasonably light food wise most off yesterday even though travelling.

actually showed a 93.something this morning ..... I could just be dehydrated ! never drink enough when travelling on planes and such and with busy days :D

anyways sticking to diet side again for rest of the week. this thing is sure teaching me the whole value of diet.... even though not getting a heap of exercise in really ...

Well I did 2 x 10km rides today. Even though they were easy effort, I'll still be heavier tomorrow. I'm on my 3rd shot of scotch tonight as well, but have drunk a heap of water today as well.

I'm now in week 11 of my diet plan and have to say I'm rarely, if ever, following the eating plans, just following the basic philosophy of the plan. Weighed myself this morning and after a bit of a wasted month due to holidays and illness I'm now 93.6kg's, just 100g shy of a 10kg weight loss since deciding to get my butt into gear.

Really happy! Due to a nagging cough and head cold I've been unable to almost any exercise for the last 2 weeks but feel like I'm finally on the mend now. Friday the wife and I leave the ki Do behind and head to Townsville for a wedding, getting thru that weekend without slipping too much is the goal.

big congrats on that achievement blybo 10kg is a bit hit !

I've been a little slower but have passed under the 92kg mark and close to 91kg. I've struggled with peaks and troughs of exercise and quite a few over indulging events, family does, celebrations  with yummy foods drinks and then mixed in with travel as well which tends to make a mess of routines and such. but anyways chipping away gradually ... my first goal is the under 90..then aim of 85 :) which i'll be pretty happy with.

diet has been the huge key for me. minimising things been told to minimise, cut out some and sticking to some good basics :) first time ever have learnt how much more impact that has than exercise !

Congrats, you are sneaking ahead of me...

I've also reached the goal of getting back into my wedding suit for this upcoming wedding. I was 84kg's when we got married 6.5 years ago so the jacket is pretty tight, but being a FNQ wedding, jackets are not required :thumb:

I'm also ultimately aiming for 85. 80 if I really get back into semi competitive cycling. Hopefully by then I'll be fitter as well. I suspect the diet plays a bigger part when overweight but extra exercise is required on top of diet once you get closer to your healthy weight to keep the losses happening.

Good stuff ! am not sure am game to go anywhere near my wedding suit as yet :D

its probably a good point about how diet perhaps plays a bigger part when over weight and exercise more when get back to where should be.

one of the mistakes I think have made in the past is with going in the deepend with exercise I've then thought could eat anything ... even to a point of being as a reward.

now know far more the impact of what I eat.

anyways lets see how things go ...weather is getting better anyways which makes it easier exercise wise :)

  • 2 weeks later...

90.0kg this morning gee it would have to be right on the knocker isn't it :D not  under not over.

went to the doc start of the week for a quick progress check ...he was impressed not only in the weight loss...but also my blood pressure has dropped massively !

few things I need to eat MORE off he said though ... looking at my eating log...

more fruit 2 pieces a day, am going some days no fruit !

yoghurt... seem to be missing this most of the time

fish he wants me eating that 3-4 times a week am at best managing twice a week !

still not going crazy with exercise, more what I can fit in, a jog here, a trip to the gym there. Trying to do stuff with the kids more too. did an indoor floor excercise class with my younger daughter on sunday...she was quite taken with it followed by her showing me some yoga she knows... also went for an evening walk them yesterday. and bike ride with the younger daughter day before. its not in anyways pushing things or strenuous... but its exercise and fresh air I guess :)

its slow but getting there.... under 90kg is first goal...getting to 85kg is the next .... can I do it for christmas ? that would be massive :)

@:) al Well done. Today is my last day of the 12 week program. I'm down to 92.7 from a starting weight of 103.5 so pretty happy even if holidays and trips interstate for weddings and illness have slowed progress in the last month or so.

I'm still aiming for under 85 as my goal and to MAINTAIN that. I think it will be easy given new eating habits. Not missing carbs at dinner time at all.

Interesting your doc is talking about fruit and yoghurt. They are key components for CSIRO diet but no more than 2 serves of fruit a day (no fruit juices or dried fruit) and 2-3 serves of low or no fat yoghurt daily, I use Yoplait (sp?) Forme as it's no fat no sugar.

@blybo you have done very well ! pretty close to 10kg is a huge achievement. and yeah will be ups and downs which make not so easy.

I havent lost anywhere same really only 6-7kg and a lot slower. but anyways will keep at it ! as seem to be getting some place. first time in last couple of years  been under 92 where I was seem to have been stuck before the ballooning out further in the last year. so great to see under that finally. will push on, determined ! feel so much better fitter too.

I agree should be easier to keep off given the new eating habits.

yes curious on the yoghurt thing, he just feels its good for the body ! i'm just doing the full fat version just one serving. having worked in dairy and food industry I dont trust their low fat/no fat sweetners !  fruit should be easy ... its just grabbing the opportunity during the day and which i forget ... which reminds me :D

probably get no chance for any exercise tomorrow with what have got planned for the day. work wise. hopefully get a bike ride in friday :) might even ride with my daughter to school if can convince her !
