just add a source

- your CDP +/- DAC

- your Computer/DAC

- your turntable + phono amp

and you have a complete hi-end system for $8.000!!!

use your own front end and pre and it's yours for $7,500:)

come on, I know that you want it:)

OK, Santa has arrived and wants to know where to take these. You just need the money and a big, clean chimney:)

Merry X'mas Michael,

Unfortunately no chimney or money (due to the AN preamp that Santa brought me), if not these would be doing rear channel duties in my room this morning.

Have you contacted Cameron the AG dealer to see whether he may have someone who may be interested?

All the best

thanks Tax, I spoke to Cameron ages ago, maybe I should do it again. I know that Avantgarde promoted these as home theatre surround sound speakers initially, but I bought then because I thought that they presented a more coherent sound for 2 channel sound than Unos or Duos. They would make great rear channel speakers but unless you have a complete Duo or Trio setup, IMHO it's a waste of fantastic speakers.

my new years resolution is to help someone discover just how fantastic these speakers really are. Avoid Kicking yourself for missing out, at least come and have a listen.

I really want to sell these, I can see another upgrade on the horizon (maybe, Mme T permitting)

so I will[ REDUCE THE PRICE to a not negotiable $7,000 (plus shipping if required). This is over $7,000 off the purchase price and nearly $10,000 off the current new price.

Best of luck with the sale Prof.

Argh, I really do want them but I have nowhere to put them!

These speakers have been available here for a while. I'm mystified why they didn't sell in the first week. first i wondered if it was the global financial correction, then if people were attached to their amplification and were reluctant to go active. I wondered about the WAF. I never wondered if it was about the quality of the speakers themselves. Do yourself a favour, if you're in the market for a system upgrade, these are definitely worth putting on your shortlist.

Avantgarde Solos $7000 (12" bass driver 250W)

SGR CX3B Bookshelf speakers $7860 (6" bass driver 100W amplification)

ADAM Tensor Delta or Epsilon - well over $7000

I heard a pair of Avantgarde Due Mezzo's during the week. Awesome sound. If your Avantgardes posess some of that magic, any new owner will be well happy.

BTW, Why mention your brand new speakers you upgraded to as a point of reference to your Solo's at around the same price??

  • Author

because you can get very very close to that sound for a fraction of the price as you may guess having heard the Duos. My room is 6m x 5m - too small for Duos but if anyone has a room of a similar size then these speakers will inspire you:)
