Two Flies Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) sold Item: Mens 1925 Omega. Location:Sydney. Item Condition:Very good, keeps excellent time for for its 84 years. Reason for selling:Its a matter of have to, not want to.Scaling back from 35 watches to 5, that I just can't part with. Price:$1,150 Payment Method: Pick-up - Cash, Paypal. Extra Info: Beautiful 1925 Omega Swiss made tank style watch with blue steel hands and sub minute sweep in a English Dennison 18c rose gold case, with stainless steel inlaid flanks and light champagne dial. Has some slight brassing on the crown, this does not detract from the overall appearance of the watch and is to be expected for a watch of this vintage it would not be noticed on you arm.I've only worn this watch on few special occasions. If you know your vintage watches then know you've spotted a bargain. I've recently seen a watch of this circa and style go for £950 in the UK. Please keep an eye out, in the near future I'll be selling of 3 or 4 other watches separately, the rest of the collection will go in a bulk lot. Please note the watch has not been advertised elsewhere. Please note due to using a macro m250 lens @ 60 F5 .6 @ 80mm to 100 mm away any imperfections are greatly magnified. To the eye it looks in great condition for it age,I feel sure you'll not be disappointed. Prefer local pick up but happy to register ,insure and post at buyers cost. Two Flies Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 Hope you like the watch Tony,I'm happy to see its going to a good home. Thanks to all for the interest and comments. Cheers Paul.
Tony M Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Thanks Mike, Minty and Andy for your positive comments:) We love nice antique, vintage and classic stuff and Art Deco is a special favourite.....so this watch just looked too spot-on to pass up. Well it did to me in the early hours of the morning, but Mrs M was asleep.... Anyway, I remembered it as we were both almost heading out the door this morning, running late for separate appointments. So it was a case of ME: "Hey, have a quick squizz at this before you go" SWMBO: "But I'm really la.......t......e.......wow, that's absolutely beautiful - if you really like it too, you should buy it" ME: "Yes dear....anything to make you happy" So, I'm pretty excited about my first forey into the vintage watch scene. MC240, thanks for the detailed instructions (by phone and PM) on how to look after it properly and you can be assured it will be treasured:) Cheers and thanks Tony
wrexican Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 beautiful watch...cant wait to see the 1950's Omega Seamaster 600...
Tony M Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 (edited) Well, my watch arrived this morning by registered, insured mail. It is just as beautiful as it looks in the photos, albeit a little smaller than I had imagined. However, the watch I'm currently wearing is fairly chunky and the vintage Omega is just elegant. The watch is amazingly light to wear and the tic is very quiet. The motion of the tiny sub-minute hand is so incredibly smooth it's hard to believe it's mechanical. I just love it. As Paul (MC240) has foreshadowed some further collector watch sales, I thought it was only fair that I offer some feedback on what potential buyers can expect: Firstly, Paul's description was entirely accurate and the photos gave an excellent overview of the condition and appearance of the watch. Paul took the time to give me a detailed run-down over the phone and made sure I was aware of a couple of minuscule marks that are evident in the photos anyway. His tips and info on looking after a vintage watch were greatly appreciated, too. So, communication was excellent. Packaging was superb - a huge satchel with layer-upon-layer of shock absorption and protection and finally a custom velvet watch wrap in a velvet hard case sealed with tape. Paul took the trouble to phone me and let me know he couldn't get overnight delivery with insurance and registered mail, so he opted for insurance and registration rather than speed. It still arrived within 2-3 working days of being posted. I guess one important aspect and my main reason for posting this is the feeling that buying from someone on SNA is like buying from a trusted friend rather than an anonymous ebay seller. That's just great and warrants acknowledgment! Thanks Paul. I'll treasure the watch and wear it with pride on special occasions as befits its age, condition, beauty and rarity. Cheers Tony Edited October 12, 2009 by Tony M
mondie Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Beautiful purchase Tony. l own a 63 Omega Constellation which like this exudes class, its only 34mm though so looks a bit lost on fat wrist. With the trend to bigger watches these days, it actually looks quite puny. Enjoy
Guest Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Great Tony and Mrs Thiing approves as well - well done to Paul on the sale and its a great notch to have had such praise from Tony which i can assure you he would not do unless you had pulled out all stops - well done - I will not get obssessed with watches - i will not get obssessed with watches - I will not get obssessed with watches - i will not get obssessed with watches (Mrs thiing made me type all that)
Two Flies Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 1st up thank you for the kind words very much appreciated, I would like to mirror Tony's words, that dealing with people on SNA is very much like dealing with a trusted friend. It was a pleasure dealing with Tony, and for this reason alone I've no regrets in selling the watch as knew its going to someone who will not only take care of it, but will also enjoy wearing it.Hope to catch up with you one of these days. Cheers Paul. P.S. After the sale I made a small donation to SNA and intend to do so after any future watch sales, thanks SNA.
Two Flies Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 Andy thanks for the acknowledgement,Tony's post knocked me out. Cheers Paul.
