  1. Further Information: Excellent condition. I've owned it for about 3 years. No dings or scratches etc. I started out using this with a moving magnet iron cartridge (on the MM input) and then later with an MC cartridge. The Pellar is an excellent sounding phono stage and very flexible. MC loading is achieved by inserting RCA plugs with different values. A pair off 500 Ohm plugs is included. Other values are available from Avid or make your own. I have been using a pair of RCA plugs that allow me to easily use any value of resistor, which are also included. The Pellar doesn't use a wall-wart as it has a toroidal transformer on-board.. https://www.tonepublications.com/review/review-the-avid-pellar-phonostage/ https://theaudiophileman.com/pellar-avid-phono-amplifier-review/ https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/products/avid-pellar-phono-stage
  2. I have a pair in white. I think they are fantastic. I am keeping mine! Bargain price GLWS.

  5. Further Information: Excellent condition. I've owned it for about 3 years. No dings or scratches etc. I've upgraded my phono preamp so I no longer need this. I started out using this with a moving magnet iron cartridge (on the MM input) and then later with an MC cartridge. I recently bought a Kiseki cartridge and decided it was worthy of a more expensive phono preamp, so I bought a Gold Note PH-10. I'd like to get the separate power supply so sale of the Avid Pellar will help with that. The Pellar is an excellent sounding phono stage and very flexible. MC loading is achieved by inserting RCA plugs with different values. A pair off 500 Ohm plugs is included. Other values are available from Avid (for about $200 a pair!) or make your own. I have been using a pair of RCA plugs that allow me to easily use any value of resistor, which are also included. The Pellar doesn't use a wall-wart - a regular power cord will also be included. https://www.tonepublications.com/review/review-the-avid-pellar-phonostage/ https://theaudiophileman.com/pellar-avid-phono-amplifier-review/ https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/products/avid-pellar-phono-stage
  6. Further information: Cartridge is in excellent condition. Jarrah body, nude elliptical diamond. High output version 4.0 mV so moving magnet phono stage works just fine. Only used on the weekends for a few hours and so estimate about 150 hours of use. Price includes express postage anywhere in Aust. All the tech info is available at the link below. Smooth and sweet sounding cartridge - I've upgraded to a Phasemation PP300 so I no longer need the Grado. Open to offers. https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/collections/turntable-cartridges/products/grado-timbre-series-master3-cartridge
  7. Hi David. You can place the two boxes side by side. It is recommended to do that rather than stack them. The reason it is in two boxes is to keep the analogue (pre-amp) electronics shielded from the control box (switching component). The two boxes can be placed a little distance apart for more isolation but I cannot hear the difference even when stacked. The analogue box with the single knob is a motorised volume control. The box with two knobs (control box) has an input selector on the left and a volume control on the right (which is a 100 step attenuator). If you turn this volume knob the motorised volume knob will also turn as they are interconnected by a serial cable between the two boxes. When using the remote to adjust the volume, it acts on the stepped attenuator. One poke on the remote causes the attenuator to go up/down one step. The issue is that the pre-amp has a lot of gain. The increase in volume between 1 and 2, or 2 and 3, is large increase in volume for most power amplifiers. Each step is a 50% increase - so it is not linear. With a matching NuForce power amplifier it would be perfect. I am not sure if it would be a good match for your amplifier. However, it is easy to make volume adjustment manually by turning the motorised volume control with your hand - but that is not what you want. It is complex - I tried my best to explain.
  8. Further information: Very nice preamp. Excellent condition - no issues. Sad to let this one go but I have to stop hoarding stuff. Includes the 'light sabre' remote. I have been using this with my NuPrime ST100 amplifier and together they sound great, but they are not an ideal match as the output of the preamp is too high for the power amp. The preamp uses a 100-step attenuator and the steps are too large - it's fine if I don't use the remote and just set the volume manually. A really fine preamp, neutral and detailed, but NuForce gear is weirdly under-appreciated in Aust. Was a $5k component back in it's hey-day. https://hometheaterhifi.com/volume_14_3/nuforce-p9-preamplifier-8-2007-part-1.html https://www.soundstagehifi.com/revequip/nuforce_p9.htm
  9. The voltage could be checked by someone who knows what they are doing. I am not technically minded enough to go poking around as there are potentially lethal voltages at play. Nominal voltage in Australia is 230 volts (and the allowable range is between 216 and 253 volts.) I think the nominal voltage in WA and NT is still 240 volts. At my old residence in Southbank VIC I measured the voltage at 250 volts. In my new apartment in Docklands it's 240 volts. I believe some tolerance is built in to electrical appliances as voltage feeds are rarely at standard, and they vary during the day. The step-down transformer simply reduces the voltage by 20 volts from what is fed into it. Depending on your home it may not be needed. There are basically two standards in the world 110-12 volts at 60Hz, and 220 - 240 volts at 50 Hz. I doubt there is any difference between the transformers in electrical devices marketed in China (220 volts) and Aust (230 volts) as the difference is less than 5% and the tolerance in Australia is up to 10% deviation from 230 volts. Mains voltage in Australia was set at 240 Volts in Australia in the 1920's. In the 1980's it was changed to 230 volts by the IEC in an effort to standardise voltages around the world. I don't recall any fuss when the change happened so I doubt that it is a significant worry.
  10. I'll post a photo of it tomorrow. It's sizeable - about the size of a brick. I had it sitting on the floor behind my audio rack. I left it on all the time. Out of sight and out of mind really.
  11. Further information: NuPrime ST-10 power amp is working great - no issues. 150 watts per/ch class D. Sounds fantastic. Music emerges from a completely silent background. Very detailed sound and exerts muscular grip over the bass. I've upgraded to a Bryston integrated so this is no longer required. Will drive just about any speaker. https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/nuprime-dac-10h-dacpre-and-st-10-power-amplifier https://www.hifi-advice.com/blog/amplifier-reviews/power-amplifier-reviews/nuprime-st-10-power-amp/

  13. Further information: Single-ended 22 watts amp using 845 tubes. Excellent condition - no issues. It's a Chinese import (I am the second owner) so it is 220 volts. Comes with a good quality Tortech step-down transformer which I use, but may not actually be needed. There is some speculation online that there is no difference between the 220 and 240 volt transformers. A good technician could measure and advise. Comes with the original Line Magnetic branded valves (which are actually Shaguang) except for the 12AX7 tubes which are vintage Trigon branded Tungsol (Hungarian made). Different driver tubes can be used in place of the 6P3P such as EL34, 6L6, 6CA7. Included is a pair of EL34 tubes which are unbranded (I think they are Sovtek or Svetlana). All the original tubes have had very little use as I have been using others (I like rolling different tubes). It has been driving my Triangle Theta Signature speakers (90db with minimum resistance of 4.6 ohms) very easily. Volume knob at 9 o'clock is plenty loud ! I recently purchased a Bryston integrated amp so I need to move this valve amp on to help pay off the Bryston. Pick-up only as this thing is way too heavy to ship (about 30 kilos). Located in Docklands near Melbourne CBD. https://www.stereophile.com/content/line-magnetic-audio-lm-518ia-integrated-amplifier
  14. Item: Grado Statement Sonata 2 cartridge - snapped cantilever - free Price Range: free (you pay the postage) Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: This cartridge was still relatively new when my wife accidentally snapped the cantilever when she was dusting. I could get it repaired (Garrot Brothers) but the cost of repair is getting close to the value of this used cartridge. So not worth it for me to pay to get it repaired and sell as all I would do is recoup the repair cost. I've already replaced the cartridge - took the opportunity to upgrade. So here is an opportunity for you to pay to have the cantilever replaced and you'd have a pretty fine cartridge. Happy to post but you pay the postage. https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/collections/turntable-cartridges/products/grado-statement-series-sonata2-cartridge Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. 16. Further information: Aluminium legs, steel top and bottom plate. Bottom plate will accommodate floor spikes. Legs are half filled with sand. Can't recall the brand. One leg has a small rub mark near the top which I've touched up with black nail polish. Not very noticeable (see last photo). 17. Item: Accousta 115 style folded horn speaker cabinet Price Range: free Item Condition: Used Extra Info: Suit Lowther drivers or other full range speaker. Original chipboard boxes in lipstick pink. Good condition but could use a fresh lick of paint. Originally had Lowther PM6A drivers but sold those last year. Pick up in Southbank, Victoria Please don't forget to report your post as FOUND when possible. (You can now delete this text).
  18. I had one of these. A great entry to the separates. found it very transparent and revealing of detail, just a little on the warm side of neutral. Liked it so much I upgraded to a P9. GLWTS
  19. Yes. I forgot about import duties? What cartridge weight does your arm accommodate? In your pics it looks like you have two counterweights? My RB 300 can barely accommodate my 10 gram cartridge.
  20. Here is a pic of my Avid mount. Yes, I was looking at the Audiomods Classic which is only about $1200. I'd consider yours though as another option.
  21. My setup is exactly like the second picture. There is a template/board that the Rega arm attaches to via three screws. I was thinking about upgrading the Rega arm weights with Michell ones, but may just upgrade the whole arm instead.
