  1. There are some really good free music cataloging templates for Microsoft Access.
  2. Hey there, Sorry for the slow feedback...i was in auckland seeing my friends Paul And Art (Oh...My...God!!!) The NY is fantastic, it took me acouple of nights to get through (8 discs are longer than i expected). Its an amazing wee collection, most of it i hadn't heard before, especially the early stuff. Quite oten i find previously unreleased early 60's stuff that is released nowadays includes very crackly recordings that sounds rough as guts, however this collection appears to be an exception; despite being recorded 46 years ago, the really early stuff on the first disc sounds just as good as the later stuff. The collection covers live tracks from Neil's Harvest and After the Goldrush periods, as well as his really early Buffalo Springfield and CSNY stuff. All-and-all is a great wee package, well worth the $169.99 price tag. The discs out of it that have been released individually normally retail for about $30, so its a pretty sweet wee deal
  3. Just picked up my CD set. VERY exicted. As lectures have finished for uni i think i'm just gunna spend the night spinning all 8 discs. The track listing looks great, and the packaging is quite cool, with each disc having its own individual cover...the box itself is a bit of a bastard; its rather tricky to get the discs out...in the end i came to the point of shaking them out. I think the music make up for this though. I'll report back with a verdict tomorrow.
  4. My weekend listening arrived a little late, with 4 items on vinyl arriving this morning: Super Furry Animals- Dark Days/ Light Years; this is my favourite album of the year so far, full of psychedelic yet poppy, not to mention catchy, tunes 2LP+CD Michael Jackson- Bad; 2008 US pressing Lonely Island- Incredibad; An album made by a couple of guys from comedy central, and featuring Justin Timberlake, T-Pain, Nathalie Portman et al. This one was a bit of an impulse buy. 2LP And finally, my pride and joy ATM... MGMT- Metanoia 10" single, this is a track that wasn't on thier debut album and has only been released on 10", and has an electronic download included. Its beautifully packaged, with an etching of a ref's whistle on the flip side of the vinyl. As soon as i opened it and layed eyes on the packaging, i went strait to the computer and ordered a second copy to keep sealed. I also picked up a VG quality second hand pressing of the Talking Head's "stop making sense", which is a favorite album of mine, but one that until now i didn't have on vinyl. Needless to say, tonight will be a bit of a long one.
  5. Hey Guys, I know it's a bit late notice, but thought i'd share... I just found out that the Unfaithful Ways and Flip Grater are both doing accoustic sets at Goodbye Blue Monday tonight from 9. Well worth checking out if your around, both of these acts are amazing!!! See ya There!
  6. I went to Miss Saigon on Wednesday night. The set is absolutely fantastic (the singapore scene is a visual feast!), the girl who plays Kim is (as i expected) very very good. On the whole it was simply a fantastic production.
  7. Is that the little dot II ++?? Thats what i'm using atm, but im using it has a pre-amp for my floorstanders...sounds sweet as a nut. I'm sure you'll enjoy!
  8. I have a "Very 'eavy Vey 'umble". VG con'd. Its not something i listen to v often, i'd sell it at the right price. Make me an offer if you like. It would have to be enough so i could visit RG and get something else. ha
  9. Either: "Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth You pull on your finger, then another finger, then your cigarette" or "Johnny's in the basement Mixing up the medicine I'm on the pavement Thinking about the government"
  10. the same set list as welly, so no losers in NZ, we all won! no losers, that is, except for mainlanders like myself. :-(
  11. No, other end of the mall, by the carpark. We don't have the vinyl instore ATM, but we are getting a turntable and vinyl section soon.
  12. Last party i went to... a computer feeding youtube video's of Guns n' roses/pantera etc through a guitar amp... it wasn't even a nice guitar amp. Friggin awful. I left rather quickly.
  13. I'm not sure if i'm allowed to post this or not?? (feel free to delete the thread if i'm breaking the rules boss) But i'm writing this as i feel it might be of interest, and not to sell stuff... CD & DVD store merivale has been offered a whole heap of new, sweet as, rare vinyl fresh from the states. Highlights include a 2LP set of The Beatles' Alternate Revolver (with outtakes and alternates etc.), the Doors' "The Acid Evangelist", a whole heap of live pink floyd stuff, various live Led Zep, Stones, Queen, ACDC and CCR. None of it is particularly cheap...but so worth it...i just wish i could afford some it (unfortunately i'm saving to go to SE Asia). I want to Alternate Revolver ALOT!!!! But if you are in chch, come visit me and check out the list. Again, sorry if i'm not allowed to do this:D
  14. I didn't need this video, i've been using a similar meathod for years. There is a company in Italy that do anti-static chocolate syrup too, which i find gives a more focused sound to the newly-surfaced CD
  15. I haven't heard a lot, but the current mac setup at TLP is easily the best system i have heard. The amazing clarity in the imaging was the thing i noticed most
  16. Actually, the best thing you can probably do is chop your stereo budget in half, get a decent TV and laserdisk, and dream about surround sound systems (we'll get to this another day). ...laserdisc...lol
  17. My tube pre appears to be picking up some kind of radio signal :confused: This is possible??? Could someone kindly explain. And also suggest possible solutions?
  18. Well all im saying is that regardless of what is best for the city as a whole, the best thing for RG was possibly to have free parking onsite
  19. I think, rather than it being a matter of "Why get car parks?" it is more one of "why not" The discusion arose from talk about potential reasons that RG has hit trouble. I don't think anyone would complain if there were carparks available, but people MAY avoid going due to the fact that there are no carparks available. So i think the issue that was raised was that having free carparking would only increase thier customer numbers. But what do i know, i'm one of the lucky christchurch duckies who's RG isn't closing down (yet?) so :-p
  20. I don't know alot about JB... do they tend to be mall based? or single mega-store style...in the same vein as RG?
  21. Joe Cocker rocking out at woodstock. Best Subtitling Ever!!!!!!!!!
  22. Last night, for some strange reason, I had dug out my LP version of DSOTM for the first time in almost 10 years...before I knew he had died.... Sound Cue: tubular bells
  23. I've certainly seen it done before. Whether the difference is positive?
