  1. cheers Lyle, thanks for the starter. You're a reliable member and a good source.
  2. I'm after a little setup with 5.1 surround. I've only got a 1 bedroom apartment with a 32" LCD, and am looking for a nice little setup which supports iPod docking. I've bought almost everything from this forum in the past from reviews (divorced now, so starting again. Wife inherited the Pioneer Kuro and all the good stuff...lucky girl! w/o appreciation). What's the forum member's opinion of a nice little setup (audio only, no need for Bluray), sub $500? I'm living in Cairns at the moment.
  3. Stimulating the economy by buying a Chinese TV? Kogan's a twit. He's one guy with a few lackies who imports cheap rubbish from China and rebadges it. Buying anything from him will only stimulate the Chinese economy. Just like everything else in Australia which now days is all Made in China.
  4. Just watching Gladiator on 10HD in Melbourne and it's bloody well in 4:3 wtf! 10's done this several times in the past few weeks with quality movies. I dunno.... Seems a shame and completely defeats the purpose after they've been advertising it all week. Those knuckle-heads disappoint me yet again.
  5. They probably end up where I used to deliver mine 20 odd years ago as a kid delivering pamphlets.... buried or down the sewers
  6. I'll be moving to Brasil soon and would like to know if the warranty for the Pioneer 508XDA is international? I couldn't see anything on the Pioneer website. I realise I need to make a power conversion (stepdown transformer?) when I get there. It's just that I couldn't get a decent TV there for the price I got it here from. So no use in selling and re-buying. Cheers..
  7. I bought mine the other week while the dollar was high. However between then and Friday (when the payment was finalised) the dollar dropped 10c. So ps3 japanese was finally delivered at about $560AUD. Still cheaper, but not as cheap as I'd hoped.
  8. Were they intergalactic viewers also? That's about 10x the world population! Even if it's a typo, for anyone to suggest 4 billion watched it is a little over enthusiatic in speculation.
  9. I'd doubt there was an IR problem. More likely stating a valid point that broadcasters should 'tone down' their WM's as they're distracting and just a general PITA to look at.
  10. It'd want to be a long looong time ago that anyone considered China to be low-tech. 40 years ago my father who was a merchant seaman would bring us back whizz bang electronics from there all the time. I still even remember my first digital watch. Black screen and red led display.
  11. Good God! This thread's given birth! Unimaginable a '.' could start off such an intriguing display of wotchamicallit.
  12. Hahaha.. Only if you've got a scabby tele' I did note how bright it was though also. I also thought there was something wrong with my contrast settings until it dawned on me that China is ****-stained in pollution (jk) thought those clowns were going to clean up the air in the preceding weeks to the Olympics? Gotta admit though, it was a brilliant display. Better than the goons we made of ourselves dressed up as clotheslines in 2000.......... God our (Australian) opening ceremony made me cringe
  13. I wouldn't touch a display model with a barge pole imo. Thousands and thousands of hours clocked up on them.
  14. I'd be cautious as you'd want a fool proof way of installing it. Condensation WILL be a killer and you can't 100% guarantee you'll have the bathroom perfectly ventiliated. Suppose you could wire it in relay so that bathroom fan must be on in order for the TV to be on. Providing ventilation is more than adequate.
  15. It's Ebay we're talking about. They'll pay top $ for anything. Just wank the ad up a bit. Personally if I were a prospective buyer I'd like to see some 'actual' images of the screen. For me at least it gives more of a 'real' feel to the sale than just a generic product image. Also a bit of a BS intro... Much loved TV... Must sell relocating or some bs just to give it that 'loved' feel
  16. Tell me about it! I've been trying to get a ps3 for the last couple of weeks from there and several went for over $700 Ended up caving and bought one from play-asia.
  17. I can't find my glasses. You kids and yer dang encryptions.
  18. The Australian power cable can be obtained free at any good computer repair place. It's just one of those computer cords which they throw dozens out daily.
  19. So where do the coupons actually come from? Are the emailed out in a newletter or something? I actually need another code also if someone please please assist. Thanks.
  20. Looking for a $10 coupon if anyone can please spare. Thanks
  21. It's not about knowing how to discipline your child, it's about having their safety FIRST in your mind and actions. Because your chidren know not to do certain things, does that mean you still have hot pots of water on the stove in easy reach, or irreplaceable fragile valuables sitting within easy reach etc etc... I'd hope the answer is no. It's not a matter of wat is wrong with the kids, it's what's wrong with the parents. A little common sense goes a long way.
