Hey,
Hopefully someone can shed some light on what might be happening with this kit. We recently replaced our aging receiver with a Marantz NR1601, mostly for the HDMI inputs.
Our Foxtel IQ2 (Pace TDC850) was connected to the old receiver using optical S/PDIF, video over HDMI straight into the TV, and it had been set up this way since day 1 without any issues.
However since everything is now connected to the receiver with HDMI for both video and audio, the Foxtel audio does not seem to sync correctly when the receiver is first powered on, and it requires us to change the channel (or hit the guide and go back again, or anything else that causes the audio to be resync'd) before the audio comes through. Curiously this also happens when using coax S/PDIF, but not when using optical, and I don't exactly understand why this would be.
Ideally I would use HDMI for everything (since that's kinda what it's intended for), but the current behaviour is a deal breaker. Ultimately I'm happy to use the optical input for Foxtel (and this is the only device we have that exhibits this issue), but I was curious if anyone else had come across any similiar issues with either Foxtel, this particular Marantz receiver, or any other kit...
And if so, did you find an explanation/solution?
