  1. No probs. Anything else that would be useful to test let me know.I'm really happy with the cubox so far, will probably grab a couple of quad core i4 boxes for media players in the new house in the next little while. I need to sus out the CEC situation, too, because the plan is to have these boxes in my comms rack and using one remote for TV/kodi.
  2. Very easy. I set Kodi's audio settings to 2.0 channel output and unchecked the options for "DTS/DTS-MA/TrueHD capable receiver" etc. and it was decoding DTS and sending 2 channel PCM to my receiver. My receiver shows on its display what audio stream is being received so the CuBox was definitely doing the right thing.
  3. Right. In that case I believe it will just decode DTS core and output PCM. Don't think the difference would be noticable using TV speakers anyway
  4. I should also mention I originally ordered from solid-run.com but their shipping estimate was 3+ weeks so I got a refund and ordered from gpio.com.au instead. http://www.gpio.com.au/product-category/cubox-i/cubox-i-starter-kits/ They had $20 off most of these until recently, and free express post shipping. Arrived next day
  5. It supports HD audio bitstreaming over HDMI, but I don't think it can decode HD audio and output PCM.
  6. Bringing up an oldish thread.. Recently got a CuBox i2-eX and am running OpenELEC 5 and so far it does everything very well. Coming from a raspberry pi running raspbmc which did the job but was limited in CPU power and didn't do HD audio bitstreaming. Significantly faster than the rpi. Built-in IR receiver just worked with Media Centre remote. DTS-MA and TrueHD bitstreaming works perfectly for me which is a step up from the rpi. Apparently the UI running on the quad core CuBoxTV is even better. Might have to get one for the other room http://www.solid-run.com/cuboxtv/ Reasonably priced, too.
  7. Anything HD? Last I checked there were exactly zero HD movies available for streaming, which is pretty disappointing.
  8. Did I miss a forced firmware update recently? My box had 31% of a 500GB disk free yesterday, but today it said disk full, deleting recordings didn't help, and Copy+ doesn't see it as a valid XTV filesystem anymore. Recordings play fine so I know the disk is still working. Think I'm going to go back to tiny stock disk. While good in theory, this has become more hassle than it's worth. Anyone had similar dramas in the last few days?
  9. You pay the same as everyone else, that's right - you are paying for the pay channels. FTA channels, where available, are provided for free by the FTA network operators and do not have any cost associated.
  10. Yep, WSBK is in HD this year. The Phillip Island racing looked great.
  11. looks like the mobile cameras and track cameras are all HD at SBK Phillip Island this year. about time!
  12. The HD channel numbers in the online guide still haven't been updated. How annoying.
  13. Hey, Hopefully someone can shed some light on what might be happening with this kit. We recently replaced our aging receiver with a Marantz NR1601, mostly for the HDMI inputs. Our Foxtel IQ2 (Pace TDC850) was connected to the old receiver using optical S/PDIF, video over HDMI straight into the TV, and it had been set up this way since day 1 without any issues. However since everything is now connected to the receiver with HDMI for both video and audio, the Foxtel audio does not seem to sync correctly when the receiver is first powered on, and it requires us to change the channel (or hit the guide and go back again, or anything else that causes the audio to be resync'd) before the audio comes through. Curiously this also happens when using coax S/PDIF, but not when using optical, and I don't exactly understand why this would be. Ideally I would use HDMI for everything (since that's kinda what it's intended for), but the current behaviour is a deal breaker. Ultimately I'm happy to use the optical input for Foxtel (and this is the only device we have that exhibits this issue), but I was curious if anyone else had come across any similiar issues with either Foxtel, this particular Marantz receiver, or any other kit... And if so, did you find an explanation/solution?
  14. Most channels are horizontal polarity these days, anyway, so won't be too much loss of functionality.
  15. Hopefully we don't end up in this situation w/ Foxtel before and after... http://www.thebuzzmedia.com/comcast-hd-sig...n-verizon-fios/
  16. That will never happen. You can always think of it as paying for the channels you want, and you're getting the other ones for free, if that makes you feel any better about it. That's exactly how it works for the free-to-air channels, so the analogy is half reasonable.
  17. I have never paid for a relocation, and I've relocated Foxtel at least 8 times since first having it connected. If you're out of contract you can easily get the relocation fee waived.
  18. Ah, but Foxtel aren't buying their content. They are retransmitting the FTA broadcast in it's entirety. Very different. Either way I don't see this happening. FTA needs Foxtel delivery more than Foxtel needs FTA.
  19. That might be your opinion, but I know many people would rather watch sporting events in HD, even if it means watching them delayed. I know not all people would, but I can definitely understand people who live busy lives and are perhaps not be able to watch matches live. You would have to be nuts to watch 7's coverage when you could record the HD coverage on Fox Sports. But I digress, the original point was the massive difference between 7's low definition coverage and Fox Sports excellent HD coverage. It is still apparent that there was just no comparison.
  20. Agreed, it is atrocious. I'd rather wait and watch the replay on Fox Sports HD.
  21. Absolutely not - the free to air channels are full of what I class as unwatchable quality. Low bitrate, overly compressed rubbish. The fact that my TV displays HD content very well highlights this fact even more. Nothing wrong with enjoying excellent HD picture quality. Nobody I respect would choose the paltry offerings of low quality free to air transmissions (either "HD" channels or not) over Fox Sports HD. They would have to be totally nuts to think there is any comparison.
  22. The Fox Sports Active channels are only broadcast in SD. There is no active HD at this time.
  23. Wow. If you think that 7's low definition blurry crap even remotely compares to Fox Sports HD, you would be the one who requires the eye check. Wimbledon on Fox Sports HD looks excellent. 7 is unwatchable in comparison.
  24. The only way that locally produced HD will move forward in this country is if the sport/league organisers mandate, as part of their broadcast contract, that their events are broadcast in HD. Even if this means the networks have to simulcast on the primary SD and HD channels (for advertising revenue), then the viewers are the clear winners whether you have HD or not. The next step is getting more bandwidth so you don't end up with massively overcompressed, blocky rubbish while they try to stuff a 1080i MPEG2 stream into ~10mbit. For live action sport that just doesn't cut it.
  25. I suggest thoroughly reading this thread: http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=81028
