I don't know if it is expectation bias but every Naim product I have tried really does seem to provide that PRAT that the brand has become known for and this streamer is no different. Such a joy to listen to. Easy to set up and the App does all you need.

Selling my Metrum Onyx R2R DAC.

Balanced NOS DAC using 2x DACTWO transient chips per channel. Upgrade your home sound system. With the goal of creating a mid range and affordable, yet superior DAC in mind Metrum Acoustics designed the ONYX. It was an unprecedented challenge, which was eventually solved by using an entirely new chip, which has been exclusively developed by Metrum Acoustics and was first used in the PAVANE.
The parallel FPGA driven R2R ladder networks as used in the 4x DACTWO modules performs on a higher level. These modules split up the audio samples for each channel into new separate data streams. Each DAC cluster processes a portion of the data in the most linear region of the R2R ladder DACs. The result of this process is an extremely high linearity, right down to -145 dB, which gives the ONYX a realistic 24 bit dynamic range. Due to the dual mono design over the entire frequency range an extremely high channel separation of 120 dB is realised. This contributes to the flawless positioning of instruments.
In short, the ONYX is a DAC that has taken all the lessons and experiences that Metrum Acoustics has learned over the years, and combined them in an ambitious DAC that can fit in every system. It is musical, honours the Non-oversampling principle while simultaneously incorporating the technological progress that has been made over the years.

The music streamer for the most demanding audiophile

There is no mysterious rocket science in our GulfStream. Some people ask, if they can assemble a similar machine themselves. Yeah, sure, but it will be similar only in "tech" parameters, but nowhere near - in sound.
We spent 6 years refining this machine, doing everyday tests and prototyping new solutions. We destroyed over tens of different motherboards, tried and tested (musically) every RAM brand available, same for processors, USB cards, SSD drives etc. We created our own version of Linux, that is as lean as possible, while optimizing the collaboration between Roon, Linux kernel, motherboard bios, processor core assignments, temperature control, fanless cooling, etc.
Our Linux which is stripped down and optimized to the bone, doesnt have any GUI functions but it allows us to do remote servicing by RemoteViewer app, and helping clients without physical shipping. We optimized Linux for sound - comparing it to well known Linux builds as well as Windows server with Optimizer and Fidelizer.
Our motherboard is selected from the best professional server types, not for gaming and not for graphics. The motherboard and it's bios is also remotely serviceable from our office. Just connect the LAN cable and provide internet connectivity.
The biggest issue is: DSD support up to 512x, ability to cool the processor in real time PCM to DSD upsampling (almost nobody on the market can do this), long term stability of the system.
Our GulfStream can read say 6 databases simultaneously, and play to 6 different users at the same time (like to all family members). It is a multi user, multi login, multi client server.
We took the hard route of designing and building our own fully linear power supply for this streamer. It is not HDplex, it is not impulse, it is the big and heavy PSU that delivers the power in the most music-friendly way. The PSU is the key factor in making the streamer that is more analog sounding than best vinyl.

It takes time and money to buy EVERY part from a different vendor from a different country. First we have to import and stock this stuff in bulk. Pay shipping, customs and duties. Make sure everything matches. Have a skilled IT man put everything carefully together which takes 3 full days and 2 days testing and troubleshooting. Everything is in house designed and specified: the 350 Watt transformer, fully potted, encapsulated, with 4 secondary windings, each for different task. Then our PSU is fully linear, CLC filtered, regulated, with 12 outputs, each custom built for each task. The whole PSU is fanless.
The mother-board is the best we could find with really “open budget”. It is dedicated to Intel XEON processors that are used only in professional servers. It fully supports our custom BIOS and remote management in case of need to do Remote Viewer.

Other specs are:
16 GB DDR4 -PRO type RAM (Linux will not read more ram anyway, so we decided not to use more) , the heart of the system - embedded drive carrying our own, home made audiophile Linux version, dedicated to Roon software and our hardware. It is so lean that there is not a single line of code we can remove further
Tablet acts as a remote control
This machine plays both PCM and DSD and as far as we are concerned it is the best that PC technology has to offer
Power consumption 30W.
Playing test music is conducted always with Pacific or Horizon DAC, as our ultimate sound benchmark!
Playing in our special dedicated listening room that no other "normal" computer company can even comprehend.
For quick playback you can instantly play from a memory stick, from USB external 3_1/2 inch drive or from the internet. A 5 inch drive requires a docking station with separate PSU to work.
Our software of choice is only ROON which can play from internet radio, Tidal or QOBUZ. Your own NAS, your HDD stack and Tidal + QOBUZ will appear seamlessly in the ROON.
All machines come with English version.
All machines will play DSDx64, DSDx128 DSD256x and 512 in native form. Conversion on the fly is possible with right settings. It concerns both DSD to PCM and vice versa. It allows you to play internet streams like QOBUZ and Tidal MQA converted to DSD on the fly.

The sound is very dynamic, spacious, large, full of un-forced details and very musical at the same time. There is more meat on the bones of music, these are not cardboard cut-out skeletons. You get the sensation of immersion in a huge musical cloud of sounds, three dimensional and omnidirectional. That's what high end is all about. The only source we know of thats better than GulfStream is Taiko Olympus.

This Antipodes S30 is in excellent condition and sounds superb.  I used it purely as a streamer, with an S40 as server which I have sold.

Terminator Plus is the popular flagship DAC from Denafrips. I would say it has a detailed, very natural analogue with no "digital glare" and yet quite relaxed and not in your face type of sound character. This Terminator Plus had the firmware upgrade under the guidance of Vinshine Audio (old retailer) in 2023- they sent the chip and gave clear instructions which was easily installed. 
 
A small superficial mark on top, will only see on close inspection (see photo).
 
Upgraded to Linn Klimax with Organik DAC as itchy for the last 10% improvement of sound. Huge price difference but as you know we are willing to sacrifice everything for audio, haha.

Hi, For Sale is my Faultless Denafrips Pontus ll which is the 12th Edition Upgrade. Purchased early in 2024 from Vinshine. This is a wonderful dac but alas I have been lured by more expensive dacs.

The Denafrips Pontus II DAC has a smooth, analog-like warmth and emotional depth. Great soundstage, I found the sound tall & wider compared to the previous dac. (Eversolo 6)

Accuphase DC-901 Precision MDSD Digital Processor. This is the DAC half of their top of the range 2 box SACD/CD player. Retail for the current model DC-1000 (which is almost identical to this) is $32,500. Sounds absolutely superb with incredible depth of resolution in the usual non-fatiguing Accuphase way and is in excellent condition with barely a mark on it. Available here is a Musical Paradise MP-D2 MK3 DAC with ESS9038 Dac chipset. Two of the standard tubes have been upgraded to Gold Lion E88CC/6922 (worth around $AUD 280 per pair).  I am selling on behalf of a family member whom I had assisted to curate a HIFI system for. To be transparent, illness got in the way and she is no longer with us. Just as I lovingly and carefully aided her in building the system, she asked if I would sell when the time came. The DAC in my possession. This has been thoroughly tested by me and my tech and is in superb aesthetic and functional condition.
This DAC has had minimal use so should have plenty of tube life left. I recommended the MP-D2 MK3 DAC to her as I have exactly the same model and despite having an ABBAS DAC and a Gieseler Kompakt MK2, I haven't been able to part with my own MP-D2 which is a great alternative to my other Philips based DACs. Whereas I love the Philips DACs, this outclasses them in terms of flexibility with higher sampling rates including DSD. It sounds fantastic stock, however, these DACs were built with tube and cap rolling in mind (you can even roll dac chips!). The Gold Lions in this dac have made a really noticeable difference and in my own DAC I have had great results rolling rectifier tubes. This can also be used as preamp if you choose the variable output and has a headphone socket at the back, both of which sound fantastic. It has coax, AES and USB in, which again, sound fantastic and in this model, optical is replaced by Bluetooth. Given I stream via Roon, I expected the Bluetooth to be redundant, however, I've found that the flexibility of Bluetooth has allowed me to enjoy incredible sound on the fly directly from my phone or laptop and I've used the Bluetooth WAY more than anticipated. This is a smooth yet weighty sounding DAC with great transparency and soundstage. I can't imagine a better DAC for this money.
 
Note: Currently this is currently setup for RCA output only. To use the XLR output, you must replace all tubes with the same brand/model. Pls refer to Garry Huang from Musical Paradise if you opt to go for XLR method and the best tubes to use.

The 432 EVO STANDARD model is our entry level model, for those who want the full 432 Hz plugin functionality at an affordable price point, or those who want to ultimately own the HIGH-END or AEON model, and start with the STANDARD to upgrade later.

 It has the same software as our other models including the same Linux OS with real time kernel, but in this case the software has basic tuning.
On the standard, we use the motherboards USB output to connect to your USB DAC.
