Denon’s DHT-S517 Affordable Dolby Atmos Soundbar and Sub Package Out Soon
Denon's DHT-S517 is the company's latest Dolby Atmos soundbar and wireless subwoofer package, delivering 3.1.2 channels of fuss-free audio.
Denon's Dolby Atmos DHT-S517 soundbar is packing a seven-speaker array comprising left/right channel tweeters and midrange drivers, a dedicated centre-channel, and two up-firing speakers.
Hooking the DHT-S517 to your telly should be a sinch, thanks to HDMI Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) connectivity and digital optical input. Additionally, there's a 4K UHD HDMI input to connect HDMI sources directly to the soundbar - a handy inclusion if all your TV's ports are already taken up by consoles and the like. Finally, the DHT-S517 also boasts Bluetooth connectivity for streaming music from your mobile.
Furthermore, you get three modes for speech enhancement and dedicated level control for dialogue independent of the rest of the system volume. In addition to those, there are also four general sound modes: Movie Mode, Music Mode, Pure Mode and Night Mode. Pure Mode is taken from Denon's award-winning AVR's, says the company, switches off any unnecessary processing keeping the music signal as pure as possible. Meanwhile, Night Mode limits the volume output while gaining clarity and dynamic range for those moments when you have to finish off that last few episodes, even though everyone else has gone to bed.
The Denon DHT-S517 soundbar and sub comes bundled with HDMI and optical cables for quick and painless set-up and will be available in early February, with an RRP of $749.00.

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
