Qobuz Tunes Up Mobile Listening With New Player & Live Lyrics

Qobuz has given its mobile and tablet app a sizeable refresh, led by a completely redesigned player and the long-awaited arrival of real-time synchronised lyrics. The update is aimed squarely at listeners who want more than background music, with the French hi-res streaming service promising a slicker, more immersive way to move from a single track into the wider world around it.

The new player puts album artwork at the heart of the experience, with visuals that adapt dynamically as you listen. A persistent mini-player stays visible while you move around the app, so playback controls remain close at hand without interrupting browsing. Tablet users also get a split-screen view, making it easier to keep music playing while exploring albums, artists, playlists or editorial content elsewhere in the app.

Queue management has also been tidied up for mobile use. Reordering or removing tracks can now be handled with a simple swipe, while the queue and autoplay view shows the next three tracks, giving listeners a clearer sense of what is coming and a faster way to shape the session.

The headline addition for many users will be synchronised lyrics, which scroll line by line in real time and include translations. Qobuz says the feature is intended to help listeners follow every word, understand more of an artist’s intent and rediscover familiar songs through a closer reading of the lyrics. To mark the launch, the platform is also highlighting playlists built around tracks made for singing along.

Discovery has been given a broader role inside the player, too. From a single track, the Explore section can surface related albums, artists, playlists and radio stations, alongside recommendations tied to the record label or genre. Editorial material, including artist, album and song deep dives, is also brought closer to the listening screen, with direct access to Qobuz Magazine from the player.

Qobuz has also reworked credits so that information about recordings and artists is easier to find. Album reviews, biographies, digital booklets and technical file data are now grouped more clearly, while listeners can like or follow artists and labels directly from the player. The mini-player can also be customised with three quick-access options, such as selecting audio output, adding a track to favourites, or saving it to a playlist.

The new player and lyrics features are available now to Qobuz subscribers using the mobile and tablet apps on iOS and Android, with a wider rollout to other platforms planned progressively.

CarPlay And Siri Get In On The Act

The app update follows Qobuz’s February 2026 CarPlay overhaul, which brought shuffle playback, direct access to albums and artists while listening, editorial recommendations, DailyQ and WeeklyQ playlists, genre filters, favourite-adding and alphabetical library sorting. Siri support also lets users control Qobuz with voice commands through CarPlay and within the mobile app.
