Qobuz Shifts Gears with Revamped CarPlay and Siri Integration

Qobuz has rolled out a significant update to its Apple CarPlay experience, introducing a redesigned interface and long-awaited Siri integration to improve usability and safety behind the wheel.

While Qobuz has built its reputation around hi-res streaming quality and strong editorial curation, its in-car experience has historically lagged competitors. Navigation could feel clunky, shuffle controls were oddly buried, and Siri support was effectively absent — a notable omission in a voice-first automotive environment. The latest update looks to smooth out those rough edges.
According to Qobuz, the CarPlay interface has been rebuilt to deliver a more streamlined and intuitive experience. Users can now toggle shuffle directly from the playback screen, access full albums during playback, browse content by genre, sort collections alphabetically, and add albums to favourites with a single tap. The Discover tab, a key differentiator for Qobuz with its editorial recommendations and curated playlists, is now fully accessible within CarPlay, along with personalised playlists, Release Watch and radio features.
Qobuz Managing Director for North America and Northern Europe, Dan Mackta says the overhaul was already on the company’s internal roadmap, noting that the previous CarPlay experience was “extremely old” and overdue for a modern refresh.

On paper, these changes may appear modest. In practice, however, interface refinements carry more weight once you’re behind the wheel, where clarity and minimal distraction are essential. Reducing unnecessary taps and simplifying navigation is not merely an aesthetic upgrade, it’s a tangible usability improvement.
The more consequential addition is full Siri integration. Users can now search, browse and control playback entirely by voice, including requesting specific artists, playlists or tracks, enabling shuffle or repeat, adding the current song to a playlist or library, and asking what is currently playing. Siri support also extends to the Qobuz mobile app itself, ensuring a consistent hands-free experience beyond CarPlay.
For a service competing with Apple Music and Spotify, both of which have long prioritised in-car voice control, this helps Qobuz keep pace as automotive infotainment systems become increasingly voice-driven. Qobuz may not operate at the scale of mainstream streaming giants, but it occupies a distinctive position among hi-fi enthusiasts thanks to its high-resolution catalogue, editorial depth and artist-centric model.

For many subscribers, listening doesn’t stop at the listening room door. Commutes and long-distance driving represent a significant share of real-world streaming time. If the in-car experience frustrates, users are more likely to default to a competing service that integrates more seamlessly with their vehicle.
As Mackta puts it, for plenty of listeners “their best audio system is in the car” — making the automotive environment a central part of Qobuz’s broader growth strategy rather than a secondary use case. In that context, ensuring the in-car experience matches Qobuz’s hi-fi credentials becomes less a feature update and more a necessity.
Qobuz adds that in-car usage growth over the past 12–18 months has broadly tracked the service’s wider expansion, suggesting car listening is rising in step with overall subscriber uptake rather than remaining a niche behaviour.

This update doesn’t attempt to reinvent in-car listening, nor does it radically alter the fundamentals of Qobuz’s platform. What it does achieve is a meaningful refinement in one of the most common listening environments. Qobuz also confirms this is part of a wider push toward deeper automotive and OEM integrations, reflecting user demand for tighter vehicle-level functionality beyond CarPlay alone.
In a market where user experience ultimately determines long-term loyalty, smoothing the drive may prove more important than it first appears.
