Austrian Audio's Hi-X15 and Hi-X25BT closed-back headphones promise an authentic listening experience; it's just that the latter can do it wire-free.
Touted as the "workhorses of the award-winning Austrian Audio Hi-X series", the new headphones are said to bring "the crystal-clear listening experience of High Excursion technology to everyday use".
Both sets sport a neat folding design making them easy to store and carry. As with the Hi-X65, Austrian Audio states that the new headphones are incredibly robust, thanks to the durable all-metal hinge and bow.
The Hi-X15 and the Hi-X25BT headphones use the 44mm drivers of the Hi-X (High Excursion) series. By reducing all moving mass, these cans are designed to present impressive dynamic characteristics and swift response, so says Austrian Audio.
Thanks to their 113 dBsl/V sensitivity and 25-ohm impedance, these Hi-X headphones should be able to cover every eventuality and be driven by most sources.
The earpads are made of soft memory foam and so will adapt perfectly to the shape of the head without pinching—and they're replaceable.
Additionally, the closed construction and insulation and 12 Hz – 24 kHz claimed frequency range of the Hi-X15 and Hi-X25BT headphones open up numerous potential areas of use for both consumers and creatives. So, whether in the studio, on stage, sat at home or on the commute, the Hi-X15 and Hi-X25BT should do the job.
The Hi-X15 comes with a 1.4 m detachable cable terminated with a 3.5 mm (1/8-inch) connector and 3.5 to 6.3 mm (1/8- to 1/4-inch) adapter.
Austrian Audio Hi-X25BT
The Hi-X25BT covers the same ground as the Hi-X15 but cuts the cables thanks to Bluetooth 5.0. The Hi-X25BT also claims 30 hours of battery stamina before needing a recharge via USB-C.
Furthermore, you can hardwire and feed the Hi-X25BT with analogue audio via the detachable USB-C-to-3.5mm analogue jack cable or enjoy music from a digital source directly through the detachable USB-C cable.
The Hi-X25BT's touch-sensitive control pad hands you Play, Stop, Forward, Back, Volume Up, Volume Down, Pick up Call functions, and the in-built mic means hands-free calls are also covered.
