Austrian Audio The Arranger Boasts Flagship Performance

Austrian Audio’s The Arranger makes flagship performance more accessible at a new price point.
The Arranger is an open-back headphone for home listening, designed to bridge the company’s Applause Award-winning The Composer and Hi-X lines and target discerning listeners.

We’re told that The Arranger builds on the company’s Hi‑X range, combining precision engineering, long-term serviceability, and a beautiful headphone intended for extended listening sessions.

The new cans are built around a freshly developed 44mm dynamic driver that uses a diamond-like carbon (DLC)- coated diaphragm for greater rigidity and control, paired with a proprietary ring magnet system with the goal of achieving fast transient response, low distortion, and excellent bass extension. The quoted frequency response is 5 Hz–30 kHz, which the brand proudly states is “not artificially boosted.” Other stats include a sensitivity of 110 dB SPL/V, 25 Ω impedance, and a THD @ 1 kHz of <0.1%.

Austrian Audio says the result of the newly developed driver, in concert with The Arrangers' open-back design, is a "natural, spacious presentation with clear spatial placement".

The Arranger also promises comfort during extended listening sessions, with soft suede leatherette ear pads, a lightweight metal frame, and robust metal hinges, all combined with a foldable structure that makes storage and transport easier without compromising build quality. This should deliver a robust design while keeping the overall weight to just 310 grams.
Moreover, all key wear components—ear pads and headband—are user-replaceable.

The Arranger uses a 4-pin symmetrical socket and comes with a TRS cable and optional balanced cables, including a 4.4mm Pentaconn and 5-pin XLR connection, enabling compatibility with a wide range of headphone amplifiers.
The Austrian Audio Arranger will be available from February 2026, priced at £899 | €999 | US$1,099 (subject to state sales taxes, etc).

applause awards
Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.
Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.
The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.
We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
