The World's Fattest Countries according to the W.H.O.

Pretty sure, on average, our health could be better. Position on some list isn't really important.

Try re-jigging the list to populations over 20M and see how we go.

Fair point but it amuses me when hard and fast statements are made about Oz being the fattest or one of the fattest when it is factually incorrect. If there is some sort of list that includes wealthy and industrialised countries then it would be instructive to see it. Another eye opener is how many Pacific Island counties that have adopted the Western lifestyle have got so much fatter in only a few generations. A country like Nauru is a total basket case when it comes to Healthy Eating, Living and Lifestyle. They have one of the world's highest rates of diabetes sadly

It depends what facts are being used.

Pacific nations adopted the western diet simply because it's cheaper.  Money talks and unfortunately those guys don't have very much of it.

Australia however by and large, does.  We're wealthy and our standard of living consistently rates among the best in the world.  Then why are our eating habits so bad?  I often think people living in 2nd or 3rd world nations are probably smarter than we are in many ways - they just lack everyday fundamentals that first worlders take for granted.
