Guest jakeyb77 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Hi, Looking for someone to make me some bare wire to female banana adaptors to allow NS-1000m to be used without modifying the crossover and also the same so I can use them in the old Yamaha amps. Prefer good cable.. and approx 3-4 inches long. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful. Cheers Jake

Cheers Jake I do have some (female) banana sockets and a soldering iron and what I consider to be good speaker cable ... and I'm in Melbourne! But I don't actually quite get why you want these strange creatures! IE. what's the f'ing problem? Andy
Guest jakeyb77 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Hey @@andyr in the infinite wisdom of Yamaha they made everything compatible with naked wire only on the stuff I have. Makes it a bugger if you want to move stuff around. Basically just want some naked wire into the speakers and amps so I can use my good speaker wire.

Can't quite understand whether your amp wants just bare wire as well? (Very strange.) What connections do your 'good' speaker cables currently have at each end? Is it as simple as: your speaker wires have BPs at each end. your amp and the NS-1000ms only accept bare wire. so you need 4x bare-wire-to-banana-sockets? Tony M Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Hi Jake I know you've said you prefer to keep everything mint, but there are binding posts available on the net that are specifically made to retrofit the NS1000M's. Most pairs that are used seriously seem to have been converted and it's the first thing I've done to the ones I have. It's easily reversible if desired, but I really can't see why anyone would do that as the spring clip terminals are so crappy and know to be a weak link of the speakers. Worth re-considering? Just one of many available: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW-Premium-GOLD-Posts-YAMAHA-NS-1000-NS-1000M-100M-10M-NS-670-690-Speakers/111837886937?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140620075055%26meid%3Df2144e871708441aaa399a5fc5f7fad9%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D181397463605 2
Guest jakeyb77 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 @@andyr yep exactly that simple except I will need 12. 3 sets of speakers. I can solder some but would like them to look nice if I go this route. @@Tony M I have ordered one set last week but having second thoughts. Guy on eBay also makes bananas for the amps. My NS-1000 will have to be retro fitted I think. But I'm not keen on doing the amps myself so probably keep the bare wire... I'm ioen to any suggestions thanks guys

Andy Very valid point haha I guess it just enables to be changed more easily and also gives me more options as thicker gauge wire won't fit. I have the option of 4 amps and sometimes it's interesting to swap around. But the undoing of binding posts gets old. Jake
