The new Genelex Gold Lion KT88 re-issue have got a lot of good press lately. I've used Electro-Harmonix KT88 with no dramas, but I prefer EL34/6CA7 in my amp.

You should regularly check the output tubes bias anyway and certainly when you change the output tubes.

Personally I use Mullard 12ax7 and 12at7's. the 12 at7's are the most reasonable NOS price, the 12ax7's are very pricy.

I like the Svetlana 6550's instead of KT88's

You should just listen and enjoy the amp first before you go changing tubes thou

Hello CM

My dropped over and he thinks he might have some Telefunken 12ax7 & 12at7's .

With the KT88's the only NOS to look at GEC KT88's .

Check the voltages before using 6550's ,look for NOS 1970 Sylvania 6550's .

If there like there other tubes KR Audio's KT88's could be a real suprise but $$$$$$.

Highly recommend the Genalex Gold Lion KT88 reissue by New Sensor - made my Cayin A100T sound like a whole different, and better amp! NOS KT88s are extremely expensive.

As for the others im not sure as mine uses 12AU7 pre valves - ive got NOS Mullard, Amperex & Telefunkens - all which are miles ahead of the 'new' manufactured chinese valves that came with my amp, so id go for NOS with your 12ax & at7s. Luckily they're still fairly affordable too.

Check the info out here, might help you decide:
