Woohoo! Congrats, Tax! They look lovely! Where did you get them from? AFAIK there were a pair of those in Melbourne, in that very colour.

Thanks Keith & LD!

Keith: These were in Melbourne at one stage, but not from where you had a listen.

Cheers

JC,

Thanks for bringing over the 47 Labs OTA cable.

After you left, I cut 4 pieces and used them as jumpers from the midrange horn to the tweeter on each speaker.

I must say that even though they are a single strand item, they have made a nice improvement in the overall balance. So I have left out the Cardas cable.

The mid range is now more balanced and I have had to lower the bass attenutaion. The cymbals have more shimmer but no glare, and also I darker background.

Will post further when I have had a further listen.

Waricle: Thanks!

Tax,

I have been a big fan of 47 Lab for many years and OTA still surprises me every time I use it in my system.

It can be a digital cable, an interconnect or speaker cables. You get 50m of cables and half a dozen of nylon pins and plugs, you cut what you need and make your own. No soldering whatsoever. To me this is the most direct form of signal path.

The only drawback is it looks fragile, even the sound is very robust; the price is too cheap compared to most branded cables.

Please let us know more about the changes in your system with the OTA. I am going to order some more in!

Hi Dr GV,

As some already knew, I am planning to bring 47 Lab products into Australia.

Those who are interested in 47 Lab, feel free to google and browse through pages of reviews.

Great shimmer without the glare, good extension and deep bass.

Must try a pair as interconnects.

Approx the price of a family sedan, RRP was late twenty's, not sure how the falling dollar has affected RRP in the last couple of weeks though.

Hi Victor,

Welcome to the Sydney Duo Owners club, and congratulations on your purchase.

I have only tried mine with Audio Note Conquest and now Audio Note Conquest Silver Signatures. Unfortunately I had to sell my Pathos TT to fund the Audio Note purchase so I never got a chance to listen to that combination. I have listened to Duos paired with Wavac but unfortunately at the time I was paying more attention to the Duos rather than the Wavac's and cannot pinpoint sonic differences except to say that it was a pleasant sound.

I have been advised that there is another Duo owner in Sydney who is running them with a Pathos TT but I don't think he is on SNA.

Another Sydney based Duo owner is running the Duo Omegas with Lamm M2.1's and that is a very nice combo indeed.

The Duo's offer a lot of tweakability and are glorious when set up right. I have listened to many (not all) speakers and so far I have not felt like I need to checkout other speakers. Down the track I will go for the Omega upgrade if it is still avilable as a retro fit. Dynamics in spades.

With regards to amps, the Duos will tell you what is upstream from it, so a quite amp would be the way to go, due to the speakers sensitivity.

I am happy for you to come over for a listen, and I have sent you my contact details via a PM.

Cheers

Since the Bent TVC sold a couple of weeks ago.

I have purchased an Audio Note Pre with C core transformers and mated it to the Audio Note Conquest SS power amps.

The AN pre has added drive, extension/decay and bass.

You lose a bit of the TVC's lower noise floor but this is another league.

A happy chappy today. Cannot believe that the amps are only 18W

Family is away and I am at play:party

Hi Tax

Glad to hear you can't stop listening to music .Are the filiment supply's regulatered in the pre this could lower the noise floor even more .

56'O

I think they are as I remember seeing a blue tuning pot on the power supply board , but given that I am a noob in this area, I may have someone more technically astute look at them.

someone else suggested a resistor on the pin of the attenuator.

Cheers

We now have the Lyra Skala MC cartridge in situ :(

It has mated well with the Klyne Phonostage, and supplements the 300b's in the bass department.

As some of you may know, I recently visited the Avantgarde Factory in Germany. The folks at AVG were kind enough to give me a Factory tour and also provide me with a customised CAD mapping of speaker and listening seat positions which were tailor made for my room. This weekend I have repositioned the speakers and setup accordingly and have been having a ball.

Here are some belated photos from my visit to the Factory.
