Charcoal Grill

Featured Replies

Right guys, here is the deal.

Got a small charcoal grill currently. Does 6 people or so. Can do roasts etc in it cos it has a lid and thermometer.

A family favourite poolside meal is charcoal chicken. The family is growing bigger and bigger. Last weekend, did charcoal chicken and ended up doing 6 or 7 relays on the grill.

PITA !!!!

So, I'm thinking just a simple open grill. Perhaps a rotisserie that is removable and has grills that can be swapped.

Needs to be around a metre long. Enough to fit 30-40 pieces of chicken.

Any ideas?

Thats very similar to what I already have.

Not enough capacity.....

30-40 pieces of chicken.

Get the big Weber and be done with it. I fed 50 at my mum's wake, hickory smoked chook and  smoked butterflied legs of lamb and veg, all under the one hood. >>>if you can find one that is

a quote from a yank owner:

My first outing with this Big Boy was to cook for 30+ people. I guava smoked a large bison meatloaf, grilled about 10#’s of veggies, 10 shrimp skewers, and over 18#’s of rib eye steaks almost at the same time! No one had to wait for their food and everything came out perfect! I’m already planning the next event which will be an “Endless Summer†clambake that I know will be a breeze because of the amount of cooking real-estate the Weber Kettle has.

Did I mention I am a cheap skate?

Cyprus grill is your answer

I have 5 different BBQs for various reasons

But the Cyprus grill is the Go To unit on 98% of the time and its 20 years old

You can do a whole lamb cut in chunks on one unit

In those days one could not purchase a unit and I had to build it myself with the motor imported

Happy to report that they can be purchased now

Cheap and skate.

Always a source of frustration eh. Big Weber does the biz but if your a C+S then look elsewhere. Upturned 44 gal Drum perhaps?

My father  in law could not cook a dam thing until his mates bought him a weber for his 60th.

Now I cant wait to go there for a BBQ.

It's the ultimate BBQ Tony, forget the gas ones, you gotta have heatbeads/charcoal and chunks of timber for smoking and your there.
