NTG Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 I would appreciate advice on the appropriate speaker cables for connecting Lyngdorf TDAI 2200 AMP to Dali Helicon 800 speakers. My feeling from forum discussion on cables that there is some diverging views. However, I am only prepared to pay around $300 for cables, 2.5mtrs thereabouts. So with this in mind what would be best, and would used cables from classifieds be ok?
ABG Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Neil, have a chat with Geoff from Aurealis. I can't think of anyone more knowledgeable on the subject. Geoff's cables are made locally (so you're not paying for freight for goods to be shipped half way around the world) and they are truly world class. http://www.aurealisaudio.com.au/speaker-cables/ 1
Zaphod Beeblebrox Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 RG213/U. Cheap and very high performance. 1
blakey72 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 RG213/U as Beetlebrox said, best speaker cables I've owned. Get it off ebay. There's a place in Geelong that sells it for $2.50/m. Then just get some banana plugs off there too. Ended up costing me about $45.
Darren69 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 Buy the Van Den Huls- http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/85702-fs-various-cables-van-den-hul-jib/ Then the RG13/U and compare them and tell us what you think.
Jventer Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 (edited) Used cables from here are fine. The benefit is that if it does not work you can sell them at about the same price. The RG213... has a world wide following - cant go wrong for the price. I have OCD so I use the same brand for interconnects and speakercables. Edited July 14, 2015 by Jventer 1
NTG Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 Thank you for your input. Went to local hifi store, choice of chord, QED (exact model not sure), or the standard $3 pm, which is what I have. Assistant said the QED with silver would make my Dali Helicon 800's even brighter (whatever..). The chord has the extra insulation. Not convinced. So standing still. Like the Van Den Huls, (always trust the Dutch) but pricey, like the concept of the RG13/U doing fine at only $3.50 a metre. But then my existing cables were $3pm. Will stare at my navel a bit longer. .........
teagle Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 I have a 2m pair of QED Genesis cables you can try at home if you want. 1
NTG Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 Thanks Teagle, need 2.5mtrs. I should have said.
RockandorRoll Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php?/topic/85702-fs-various-cables-van-den-hul-jib/ See the first listing, Van Den Hul 2.5m cable unfortunately its unfitted, although, i think you could get someone to fit some really nice spades for the money you are saving
