Thanks mate, should be really good. Not too stressed on the job, will get something easy enough. The company has a few big projects starting later in the year.

The system is sounding really good at the moment, very happy with it.

@Pops110 that is an amazing effort/story and your holiday looks incredible.

Am jealous of your willpower, the OP obviously does not have any. :D

I hope your holiday is memorable (am sure it will be!).

Cheers Daz, it should be memorable one way or the other. It will be interesting 3 weeks together 24 hours a day. :P

Sometimes life dictates that you have to have more willpower than normal. Thanks for all the support mate. :)

But, I came to the conclusion of- I can enjoy now and die or be very strict with myself and die. I have had a few fitness fanatic friends pass recently and to be honest, I don't envy their lives. Sure, they might have liked what they did but it did not ensure longevity.

I was a fitness fanatic for a long time as I always put on weight easily. When I was living in London I used to Rollerskate to work and back. Use to ride from Earls Court to Epping and back etc.

I use to do 400ks a week plus on the bike here in Sydney, raced bicycles.play tennis, Snow ski, run, surf, bought my first Mountain bike back in 82, but at the end of the day I always had a drink or two. I've been over weight for about 10 years but don't work now, too many sport injuries have done my back, knees, hip replacements, bunions, fractured skulls,  rotator cuff permanent injuries, etc etc. Now I don't get stressed. That helps.Walk 3 K's a day and ride my motorbikes. I still drink a bottle of wine a night and look forward to the next birthday. Lucky to be 62. I live by the day now.

But phuck, I bet you wont die wondering. Fantastic stuff, this is life, IMO.

One hour of life, crowded to the full with glorious action, and filled with noble risks, is worth whole years of those mean observances of paltry decorum, in which men steal through existence, like sluggish waters through a marsh, without either honor or observation
Walter Scott.

Life is to be enjoyed, it is not a rehearsal.

Righto, I'm going dry for August along with a couple of friends after boozing it up big time at the Beer and BBQ Festival on the weekend. Haven't done a dry month since Nov 2015. Keen to lose a few kg. Wish me luck!

I'm going to join you... after tonight... :hiccup already have some beer in the fridge but going to do my first bike ride in about 10 weeks tonight. Winter, work, kids etc has got me down and I've put on most of the 12 kg's I lost last year, which coincidentally I started that diet on August 2nd. So must be a cyclical thing for me.

Now tell the truth mate you tried the leather's on and you couldn't throw a leg over the motorcycle :P cya in October.

Just remember to cut out the bread. A guy I know lost 30 kilos from cutting out bread and pasteries full time but still drunk. If you eat a bread roll with nothing on it, you need to run 7ks to neutralize it.

100%

actually not cut out bread as there some things in bread that are good for you. so I was told firstly make sure its whole grain. i.e. has some fibre. and only max out at 2 slices a day

i have been told a serve of anything shouldnt exceed what basically fits in palm of your hand. or a hand full..... anything more ... is excess..,.

but then somethings are enjoyed in excess... :D

The diet I did last year, and am starting on my own version of it again today, is the CSIRO Wellbeing Diet which cuts right back on carbs and sugars. My basic plan goes like this;

overnight oats for breakfast or occasionally 2 slices Burgen toast with vegemite. You can still have a sandwhich at lunch time but using Burgen bread with meat and salad, or a tuna salad. 1 piece of fruit and small tub of low fat/no sugar yoghurt to snack on in the arvo and then dinner is 200gram of lean meat and salad or vegies only, no carbs after lunch. Caseroles and the BBQ are your friends for dinner. It's surprising how nice marinates can be with just a touch of honey. You can also have either 1 standard drink daily or some low fat, low sugar ice cream after dinner. You can also snack on as much raw carrot, celery, capcicum & cucumber as you like, even with a low fat humus dip occassionally. Of course no sugary drinks, just plenty of water and I also have this as my soft drink replacement when I want some fizz.

It only takes a day or 2 for me to get used to not having carbs and the craving for pasta etc went within a week. I was losing around 1.5kg's a week when being ultra strict on this diet and execising for at least 30 minutes per day. But at around 6 foot and 100 kegs, it should come off pretty quickly.

1 week into a 16 week alcohol free stint - goal is to loose 15kgs and enter an indoor rowing comp - gym 2 times a day during the week and healthy eating.

Yeah, I'm a little bit the same. Going to QLD in November to catch up with my best mate who is a Open/Agrade road cyclist. He is planning multiple 100km rides through the Gold Coast hinterland for us so need to get my Mojo back. My plan is a little bit less intense than you, a minimum of a 30 minute walk everyday and around 4-5 hours on the bike each week, mostly on Sunday mornings.

When I was at my lightest I used to drink beer every night. It's more about what you eat with it
