Last night I watched "London Boulevard" on bluray. Not too bad actually but an unsatisfying ending for mine. It's all very well being gritty and realistic but sometimes a nice 'Hollywood' ending can be better.

Last night I watched "Slow West" on bluray. A fantastic movie, I really enjoyed this. Set in the American west but beautifully filmed in NZ.

Last night I watched "Serenity" on bluray. Not a bad sci fi movie.....I have not seen 'Firefly', the TV series from which it follows on but this was written to be a stand-alone story so it didn't matter. Entertaining, even if it had a bit of a 'made for TV' vibe about it. The audio track was thunderous.👍

Some of us Firefly fans wanted this to be much better than it was, and as a precursor to re-booting the series. Unfortunately, it was written to kill off the series, which was a real shame.

I've got the full set of Firefly on bluray (all 14 episodes). If you want to borrow it, it's well worth it. Some of the episodes are just 'perfect'.

All good.....I've recently put in an offer for the bluray set with an ebay seller.....awaiting his decision.....but thanks.

A co-worker a few years ago was singing the Firefly series praises.....she also mentioned Serenity and said it wasn't quite as good which I really enjoyed so I look forward to the series.👍

PS: Offer accepted.....it's on it's way.

A little tip, there's the order in which they were made to be shown and the order in which they were actually shown on TV. Personally, I'd recommend the order in which they were made to be shown.

Previous night I watched "Spies In Disguise" on bluray. Good fun stuff, enjoyed it.

Last night I watched "The Ides Of March" on bluray. Excellent political drama with a great cast, loved it.

Previous night I watched "The Assassination Of A High School President" on bluray. Entertaining stuff indeed.

Last night I watched "A Wrinkle In Time" on bluray. I read the novel when I was 14 or so and really loved it but the movie, while very colourful and visually spectacular, was a bit of a miss for me......and many others it seems. It was a box office bomb.

Wrinkle In Time (Blu-ray) : Ava DuVernay, Storm Reid, Mindy Kaling, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon: Amazon.com.au: Movies & TV

Last night I watched "Hearts Of Darkness: A Filmakers Apocalypse" on bluray.

Great doco on the making of 'Apocalypse Now'. Yes, it is a wonder it got made at all.

Last night I watched "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" on bluray. Good to see it again on a decent screen with decent sound, ie: I didn't originally see it in a cinema.

Didn't feel like firing up the usual post movie music so I then watched "The Temple Of Doom" on bluray. Both these are now a bit dated but still highly entertaining.

Both from the recently purchased 5 disc bluray box set with the first four movies plus a bonus features disc. I still need to get the recent "Dial Of Destiny".

Last night I continued the 'Indiana Jones' bluray box set with:

"Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". This one was great fun......Connery😉.

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade (Blu-ray) : Richard Young, Alison Doody, Alex Hyde-White, Julian Glover, Robert Eddison, Kevork Malikyan, Isla Blair, John Rhys-Davies, Alexei Sayle, Michael Byrne, Denholm Elliott, River Phoenix,

Then finished up with "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". I watched this as a one off nearly a year ago and thought it was silly but having now watched it straight after the three others (it is connected more so to the first one 'Raiders'), it made more sense and I did enjoy it more this time. I have ordered "Dial Of Destiny" to complete the series.👍

I noticed the way playing on a FTA channel on Monday (?), so I fired it up last night. Just as fun as the first (and second) times. A little gory for those not used to Tarantino-esque or Japanese samurai movies - but well put together and everyone seems to have enjoyed making it.

Yes, I have it on blu-ray as well, one of the Coen Brothers best movies. Most of their movies are worth watching and I have quite a few of them on blu-ray although I do think that they sometimes miss the mark a bit. One movie that I personally think was a bit of a miss is their remake of The Ladykillers. I expect that they would have held the original in high regard, and I can see how it would have been an influence on them, but I just don't think that their translation of the plot to a Southern US setting really worked all that well. The original 1955 British file featuring Alec Guiness, Peter Sellers, Frankie Howerd and Katie Johnson as the old lady is a classic, and the 2021 restoration on blu-ray is well worth getting. By all means give the Coen Brothers version a viewing, but the original British version stands its ground and is a classic of its time.

Just had to watch the end of Bullet Train again. Just enjoyed it for the over the top action. Then I thought, "what is the complete antithesis of this movie?" Of course, "Once Upon A Time In The West", which just happened to be on Netflix, so I didn't have to look for the 4K in my library. Watched up to the bit where Harmonica saves Jill - "He not only plays. He can shoot too." I can save the rest until another time...

Last night I watched "Haywire" on bluray. Good action flick, great cast besides maybe the lead actress. She's a great fighter (MMA) but not so much a great actor.....but overall, pretty good film.

Last night I watched "Monsters Vs Aliens" on bluray. I scored this cheap yesterday at Cash Converters then realised when I got home it was the 3D bluray.....but it played in 2D as the Magnetar knew my TV was 2D. Clever thing! This movie was better than I expected......quite funny and enjoyable.

Well, after mentioning the Ladykillers recently I just had to watch it again last night.

?u=https%3A%2F%2Fm.media-amazon.com%2Fim

Made in 1955 (the year I was born) I first saw it on TV some time either in the 60s or early 70s (I forget which year).

It is a classic British dark comedy with excellent performances from all the cast.

It is also a bit of a snapshot of how London was in the 1950s. I love this film, and always enjoy watching it.

One of my favourites. I might have to track this down. I don't think I've seen it after the disappointment of the Coen brothers remake.

Las night I watched this one for the very first time. Oh they don't make movies like this anymore! No CGI, just pure proper acting, stellar cast, great music of the time. Excellent vibes and subtle smart humor for a totally unexpected story which will keep you guessing until the end! Highly recommended.

Last night I watched "The New Mutants" on 4K bluray. This one was a bit of a miss for me.....not sure why it was even made.
