Red Wine

Featured Replies

I am a shade board to day decided to make myself a homemade butternut pumpkin soup, and I thought to my self a glass of Red would be nice while im in cooking mode, I had purchased a few bottles of some recomended reds to take with me when I go for my holidays to the UK in less than 4 weeks,

So I thought I would try the White Box from heathcote region Shiraz 2004 ( Stuart Wines)

( WOW what a georgeouse wine ) and only $19 abottle I have not been so impressed with a wine since I tryed the Dark Side of the Moon at one of Andrews GTGs

I can highly recomend the White Box Shiraz 2004 hic :D

Gav,

Definitely some tasty reds come out of the Heathcote region. I would heartily recommend you try some Pinot Noir from the region. Drink up and enjoy - the poms are probably happy to stick with warm beer and elderberry wine...

Did you buy the Shiraz from a bloke in a white van..? :D

cheers

Hi grumpy

I very basic soup nothing special in at all

1 Butternut pumpkin ,2 small swedes ,1 large Spanish onion, 3 Sprigs of cellery, 2 tins of cambells country label Butternut pumpkin soup. the only addative in it was salt, no other spices at all not even pepper mainly as I did not have any spices to use, I was going to add garlic but I found that my garlic was rotten.

Even though it is a very basic soup I enjoyed it emensly, its amazing how the simple things can be so deliciouse :D

Heathcote/Bendigo region does some fantastic wines IMO. Quite a few of them at a decent price too. Enjoy.

drinking Jacobs Creek Reserve 2004 - cost me nothing - contacts!!!!

Its not bad for a bit of a bed time night cap - do they really make Shiraz across the border I thought they had banned false advertsing?

Andy,

Indeed they do make Shiraz 'across the border'. And it woul have been the only place they make it, except that someone from South Australia stole it from NSW...

And the best red wine for 2008, winning multiple trophies for best in show is ... Adelaide Hills Setanta Cuchulain Shiraz 2005 ...:) What ? That can't be right. Adelaide Hills..? Is that some new wine region in NSW? Must be near Orange...

Andy,

I can buy the red in inner city Sydney, but doubt that I can emulate the autumn beauty of the Adelaide Hills  Hey, but what do I care? We've got 'sex in the city'..... so you can keep your leaves Andy

Umm, like what? I can think of one, Tyrell's. Are there some decent ones?

Heathcote pinots? Um, er - I stand corrected Mr_G . I checked out the Shelmerdine Pinot Noir, which I thought came from Heathcote. It turns out they grow it in their other vineyard ....in Yarra Valley. Doh...
