New wall and door - who to contact in Sydney?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just bought a house and would like to convert a dining area into a music/home theatre by building a new wall (with soundproofing material within it). The wall would have a double door (mandated by wife), and would like these to be decently soundproofed with seals etc.

Who in Sydney would be the best to achieve this?

  • builder +- door shop? (probably the cheapest but I'd be wary of their experiences with soundproofing)

  • Acoustic soundproofing companies

  • Home theatre installation companies

  • Hifi shops (probably the most expensive?)

Any experiences would be appreciated!

Photos before and after thanks to AI (except the double doors would be more to the left):

Anyone??

Any decent builder can do this.

The cheapest way is to not to disturb the cornice and existing wall thickness and fitting everything around that.

You just need to specify what you want.

The best you'll probably do in that situation is remove the sheeting to the left of the door and stuff all the wall cavity with appropriate Bradford Soundscreen.

Bradford Soundscreen Acoustic Wall Insulation Quieter, Mo...

Bradford Soundscreen acoustic wall insulation reduces noise transfer between rooms and adds thermal comfort. Non-combustible, easy to install and made in Australia.

The doors are the biggest problem but there are tightly sealing solutions out there.
