New printer install musings

Featured Replies

Old printer died so had to buy and install a new one. Didn’t have to sacrifice my first born to Satan , but still a pain in the arse with a lot of assumptions - no manual other than to plug in and follow the on screen prompts which automatically want you hook it into your wifi. Connect to desktop via USB….oh….you need to download the app from Microsoft store and then follow those on screen prompts. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

We don’t use a printer that much, but having a All In One is handy, after looking around we settled on another canon , had 2 previously and they worked fine, tho both died without warning - a mother board failure and a print head failure. Theres a few horror stories at the moment with HP and I owned an epson years ago and it was the biggest POS. Brother seem to get some good reviews, but never tried one.

They're useful! "It’s wild that the most effective way to save something as a PDF is to lie to your computer and pretend you’re about to print it."

the are not designed to last.....

Inkjets are even worst, there heads need to be constantly used otherwise blockages will occur. Inks are a fortune when you work out that tiny amount thats in that cartidge that doesnt last. They literally give the printer away to get you hooked on the supplies.

Laser jets a slightly more reliable, quality of prints will vary due to print media used, and thats the same with inkjet. Always used the media thats designed for the printer.

If you do very little printing, better to go to Office work and pay per page will get you better results, less layout costs, zero maintenance. Usually they are laser printers, they are consistantly maintained to peak performance
