What footers are best for a very heavy Lenco

Featured Replies

This is how my 3rd Lenco and heaviest by far at around 35kg. It has 3 layers of Corian and some sort of high density mdf material. There are 3 m8 threads of about 30mm glued into the plinth.

At the moment I have it sitting on vibration pads from Bunnings and the TT deserves much better.

Ideally levelling adjustable feet that look complimentary.

It is difficult to say what is best but I’d recommend the Stack Audio AUVA EQs.

Get some custom made springs Peter. They are excellent for tt.

Thanks Dennis,

Where do you suggest? Springs don’t allow for fine tuning on levelling. Although that isn’t insurmountable.

Hi Peter, I used those standard spring footers online, nothing fancy.

For custom made one, you can ask Shane @metal beat I remember he uses springs too (not sure he still does though), or google it, there should be plenty.

I do. I used my $1k SRA isolation platform for a while, but went back to my $100 springs.

Good to hear that so I'm not fooling myself, I thing springs are the best, remember the project I,did many years ago of a anechoic chamber at Macquarie uni, the whole chamber is sitting on springs for vibration control designed by the engineer.

I’ll look into springs as an option. They will need to be at least 30mm high to allow for the threaded shank in my plinth. Unfortunately they aren’t removable.

Try Wellfloat- delta which are the triangle ones or their platform can take 250kg each

Thanks, they look really good but at over $500 each they are much more expensive than I can justify. I’ll probably get 3 of the Stack Audio AUVA 50s.

My suggestions would be Buy from Japan or get their platform which is cheaper.

Otherwise try non proprietary such as bluestone or sandstone with selected timber supports…

I have tried many different supports, nowadays I would avoid sorbathene, springs etc

My issue is that I have 3 threaded shanks glued in to my plinth. It would be nice to attach the footers to them.

Why can't you just cut the shanks off?

They are glued in with a ridiculously strong glue and I don’t want to damage the Corian which was given a great whack by Pack and Send. I have already had a big piece break off underneath.

From the pics it doesn't look difficult cutting them off and, if done carefully wouldn't cause any damage. A small angle grinder would cause no impact and a hacksaw used patiently wouldn't either. Corian is quite easy to repair using Corian adhesive.

I ended up with 3 of the Stack Footers. Great service and fast delivery. They are excellent and I am very pleased with the quality of the product.

First time I have seen the Stack Audio AUVA footers used to support a turntable......I'm using AUVA 100's under my Wilson Benesch Floorstanders and they certainly work very nicely......their load bearing specification of 275KG is very high....not sure what the Lenco weighs in at but the AUVA's are made for the job. Josh Stephenson at Stack Audio would be very pleased at your outcome and this application of AUVA technology. Was levelling the turntable very "finicky"?

Cheers

The AUVAs have height adjustment so it should be relatively easy.

It was easy because the shank is quite long.

The 50s were recommended by Josh.

The TT is much easier to move around with felt underneath the footers.
