Speakers in a bay window

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I’m moving into a new apartment and I’m interested to hear your opinions on the placement of ProAcs D20R in a bay window niche. I have uploaded a picture.

Basically, I would like to understand the acoustic challenges of placing the speakers in such place. There will be a curtain behind covering the windows.

Am I going to get an unbearable bass and distorted sound stage or do you think it can possibly work?

I would be grateful for your opinion on the matter, thanks a million 🙏🏻

I don't think you'll have unbearable bass - especially if there's any insulation in the walls.

Bass will go straight through the glass - great for your "in room" sound, less great for your neighbours ☹️.

Alcoves aren't great, likely better if your speakers were in line with the front of the alcove.

Yes it can work!
