Best new modem for Gaming?

Featured Replies

Just seeking help to select a new modem/router for my PC. Old 2016 modem is a T-Link AC3200 triband. I have already added a WiFi 6 mesh upgrade. The old modem has just died. I used to get plenty of unstable 298ms latency warning whilst playing Xbox Infinite on my PC. What's the best modem for online PC gaming (Ethernet connection)?

Works well if provider is up to it..

Link not working?

Yes, link doesn't work. That router is only WiFi 6 (already outdated) and only dual band. Not suited to my requirements.

I have researched and decided on this Asus bad boy.. it has WiFi 7 and Quad band.. plus a host of goodies for gamers!

The Netgear Nighthawk gets consistently good reviews.

I play such games very often now. It's something new to me, so I put some games on pause on my PS, and I am exploring different casinos and pokies. As I don't have a lot of experience and have trouble choosing a good site to play, I spend a lot of time on reading reviews or something like that. I managed to find answers at https://pokiespros.com/real-money-casino/ and find out more about real money casinos on that site, and now I feel more confident.

I have this one, and can assure you that it's a perfect option. I've never had any regrets about getting it

If Wi-Fi is not required, then it's pretty hard to bear opnSense set up on a minipc with 2x Intel NIC's. Enterprise level security and throughput. It is a bit of a learning curve though. I favor the Topton FU02 industrial PC for this use. It essentially runs fanless and has a fan should it get too hot. Mine never has yet: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009418561058.html?

I'm currently reliant on WiiFi 7 mesh (1x OC200 controller, 2x EAP783, 2x EAP772) though once my home is complete it will really just be notebook computers and mobiles hanging off Wi-Fi. The lovely thing about this approach is I've separate VLAN's for secured devices and IoT and network side devices traffic is intelligently filtered for any suspicions behaviour via Zenarmor, with Suricata on the Internet/public facing side. Very secure, and I've been able to give top priority to Roon traffic, whilst deprioritizing all IoT traffic. It really does make a massive difference even beyond throughput alone. No reason the same can't be done for games.
