Re orientating the room

Featured Replies

I am lucky enough to have dedicated room, but its not huge. The wife wants me to move the door, she want to change the room adjacent to this one as floors are being replaced and it requires getting ride of the double sliding door.

This kinda means moving the Listening Position or the seating will block the new door.

I would need to rotate the system and the LP 90deg in either direction. (well i guess i could rotate it 45deg, but havent thought about it much yet.

I use REW to model the room and I will move the speakers and measure before any building, but what do you think, will it negatively impact the listening orienting to the shorter way? I can do whatever i want with treatment etc (well money allowing) she doesnt mind.

Is this silly or is it likely to make very little difference?

Possible Future. I could invert the LP and Hifi if i wanted.

It's hard to say for sure, but if you can move the speakers into the new position temporarily and the LP you will get a taste of the effect. Ive discovered quite a few rooms, where changing to the short length has done wonders for the system. Then again, the same could be true of the opposite effect!

I too had good success firing the stereo across the room. And like your second diagram there was a large window at the back.
