The auto populated light box of a sellers' other items is a fantastic feature - so much info at a single glance. Was this even announced?

Now if you would also pop over in the morning to brew our coffee, kthx.

  • We just hit 500 active ads. That's a new record for both the old and new classifieds. Great job all and thanks for supporting it!

  • Not sure if anyone is still following along or if I should continue providing updates? I'm not getting much back which I have to assume ... no news is good news 🙂   Just a heads up that the

The development of these Classifieds was proudly supported by copious amounts of Mahlkonig ground beans and La Marzocco brewed black gold 🙂

Some users are complaining that it's hard to spot a WANTED to buy ad despite the giant WANTED right next to the title of the ad.

image.png

I have noted this, and will change the colour of WANTED to a different colour than the FOR SALE version.
Other than that, I really have no idea what else could be done to make it even more obvious.

We continue evolving and developing the site to improve the user experience, and as such have released Classifieds V1.0.9. These minor updates are based on actual feedback received, and our own use of the system.

Changelog

  • Reminder added when contacting a Seller to click Purchased once a deal has been agreed.
  • Condensed buttons at top of Classifieds Index and added drop down links for important pages.
  • Fix for reposting ads from Other categories - not currently fixed - work in progress
  • Search filters fix to honour Sold and Active selections.
  • Various other bug fixes.

Can you send an electric shock down their keyboards?

I see the problem, should be like this

Hi Marc I wasn't complaining.
The new site and the tsunami of modern technology can feel overwhelming at the time for me. But I did accept it a long time ago because it is what it is and the change is unstoppable.

This is why in my comment I mentioned my old age, poor eye sight and feeling half asleep too. I will add to that my lack of attention, I am getting too slow and did not catch the "wanted" headline. But I will try harder next time. Cheers.

And yes if you have one of these I will take it too. As long as it is not the entire chair.

My point was - and I think it's been clear over this entire development, almost everything (good and bad) has been taken aboard and tested and I dare say 99% of it implemented. Even since launch, there's been more than a dozen version updates (nine since we started recorded them in versions). I could have stopped there, but it's what is making our Classifieds better and better every day IMO. But a back and forth in a classifieds ads about issues (which luckily caught my attention), won't fix or improve anything.

Anyway, this is the best place for feedback. I have noted already the change of colour for the WANTED tag, and this will be implemented soon. 👍

The various types of ads, Wanted, For Sale, and Giveaway, are now each colour coded.

Now Classifieds V1.0.9.1

Changelog

  • Fix for reposting ads from Other categories - fixed
  • Colour coding of different types of ads - For Sale, Wanted, Giveaways

Classifieds V1.0.9.2

Changelog

  • Various bug fixes
  • Admin functions improvements
  • View All Ads - ability to filter Ad Type: Either regular or media ads, Regular Ads only, Media ads only

The last function was added based on feedback from some users who would like to View All ads, but NOT see all the vinyl/bluray etc ads.
Alternatively, you can View All ads, but ONLY look at Media Type ads (vinyl etc).

Wow thanks, that's really useful (although my bugbear is cable ads >:< ). Just a thought on the phrasing: "either regular or media ads" sounds a little confusing, does that just mean "unfiltered", after all?

FYI when filtered for media, it also lists give away items (TVs & Tape decks, e.g.)

Just a more general feedback, since the primary purpose of the classifieds is SALES, is labelling every single item as For Sale necessary? Creates a bit of visual clutter. Also competes for sign recognition attention with Giveaway and Wanted to buy. Would it make sense to keep the latter two but remove For Sale. E.g. looking here. /2c

Thanks for ongoing improvement & development.

This is a good start Marc and appreciate all the work! I'm using All ads in expanded view and really enjoying it. I find it actually easier to use than the previous Detailed view as often I was bookmarking ads just based on the limited info and then realising on closer inspection it was a no go. With the expanded view I get a clearer idea of what's on offer so can skip or bookmark. Overall it takes less time and less frustration 🙂

The vinyl ads are what I could skip. Given others' preferences (where I'm guessing only certain categories are of no interest) it seems a good idea to have a checklist view so we can compile our own version of 'All Ads'.

Conscious that this may take time, but so far I'm happy with what we have now. So much better!

@lemarquis I think you may have just missed exactly what was just added.

In All Ads view now, you can tick Regular Ads, and it won't show Vinyl.

And also, you mentioned you are bookmarking ads. No need for that.

From an ad that interests you, click Follow:

image.png

The from My Ads, click "Ads I follow" for a list of them.
This has the added benefit of being notified when the price of the ad changes, a notification before it expires, and same when it does expire.

Thanks Marc. The bookmarking was a ref to the old system.

I did get the Regular ads update, but I should have added that I still want to see CDs, Can we filter the Media part?

Nah can't go that specific without setting up Custom Activity Streams, which some users have done.

We need to cater for the majority without making the system too complex I'm afraid.

The point is, there is nothing that you 'can't' do and there are multiple ways to do things. It just takes some time to learn what works for you.

If CD's are you thing, hit Follow on the CD's category and be notified of every CD as it's posted:

If a certain artist is your thing, then setup a keyword notification: https://www.stereonet.com/forums/settings/classifieds/

  • 4 weeks later...

We're pushing a new update to Classifieds now.

Part of that change is to allow more flexibility in WANTED ads. So as to not have to specific a specific brand, for example.

With that said, the Wanted section should not be used to gather input on a new "headphone amplifier" up to $2500, however.
That would still be more suited to a discussion thread in the Headphones forum.
