With current technology maturity, there is no way highend dacs plus commodity computers can match high end cd quality without proper upstream investment. Unless u are owning some top class dac that designers took isolation seriously like Playback design fiber input, MSB with ProISL fiber interface, even with those, they still benefit from better upstream However, most dacs on market currently benefit sound quality improvement significantly with better music servers and switches with a quiet power supply. How further upstream is a boundary ?
