Not used a charcoal chimney, but used this for the first time today.

$40 from Bunnings. Like a hairdryer on steroids. Had my charcoal pile for my Weber kettle fired up in 90 seconds. Bloody brilliant!

I am getting one of these for myself and 2 as gifts to my BBQ buddies

Thanks for the heads up

Got mains gas at your place ?   Convert your BBQ, whatever you end up buying. No more bottles.

  • Thanks FR. Check your PMs   Cheers

How much are they?

How much are they?

Zammo said $40 each

He did too!

DOH!

Thanks....................that's not bad at all.

Just a word of warning with the looftlighter. There are a few reports on amazon US of early failures and the aluminium tip melting. I reckon most of these are due to improper use. Follow the instructions closely and only keep the tip touching the charcoal or briquettes until you see a few sparks, then pull back quickly to 10-20cm. At first, it seems only a small amount of charcoal has taken, but then it spreads like wildfire as you keep blowing the super hot air in the same region.

Interestingly this product is $80 in The States. Likely a result of increased litigation insurance costs. I'm sure some moron over there has tried to use it to dry their pubes......or something worse.

I think I saw that pic on 4chan..........................

What's wrong with that practice?

If I had the money I would get the Braten 1000. Built to order - same BBQ Obama gave to David Cameron as a present

Built to last and has a handy lever to grill argentinian style
