For those who don't know, this Esoteric SACD series is like the Criterion Collection except for classical music. These are acknowledged to be the best performances. Esoteric goes back to the master tapes and remasters them into digital using modern equipment, applying noise reduction and other modern tech along the way. 

 

I do not have this particular SACD, but I have a number of others along with duplicates on normal CD. Same master tape, but different digital mastering. The Esoteric is clearly superior, much lower noise floor and more natural sounding. 

 

Some of these Esoteric SACD's are quite rare, and I have a large collection of them. I have stopped collecting SACD's, but anybody who is interested should grab this disc. 

Many thanks for the big wrap for Esoteric Recordings........the value of some of the early SACD releases in various marketplaces is just breathtaking. Curzon's Piano Concertos SACD is currently sitting around the $850 mark. they are very special.
