LALD Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Blue_starfish, could you elaborate on what you mean by "under right conditions"? Thanks! Titan has typical Whest sonic signature of speed, rhythm, dynamics. But what sets it apart from the lesser models is the quietness (under right conditions) and added details with refinement. A tad dry sounding compared to tube phonos. The Titan is above $10k, and is second from the top MC Reference V monoblocks.
blue_starfish Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Blue_starfish, could you elaborate on what you mean by "under right conditions"? Thanks! For this level of phono amp, Modular Audio will bring a demo set to your home to try in your home environment, for an evening without obligations. Take advantage to see if your home conditions allow for the Titan to perform at its best against your existing phono or competing phonos in identical surroundings.
LALD Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Thanks blue_starfish. I get it. I've heard the whest titan in modular audio showroom and agree about the quietness. I find it very fluid and on well recorded vocals, I actually heard a halographic image against a beautiful dark background. Mesmerizing for newbie like me!

If you heard Titan with the Bergmann Sindre/Canary and Engelholms, you only heard a fraction of Whest true capabilities as showroom conditions are less than ideal. At home I get 3D soundstage that is wide, deep tall. Strong rhythmic drive, with large scale dynamics exploding from a dark background and then receding back into quietness.
kelso1624705851 Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 The reed tone is my dream tone in term of tweatablity other than :P Wow, azimuth on the fly, very fly... remembered talking thru emails with the maker some years ago when they were using only red cedar, wanted them to custom using different wood ... just went on their website, now they offer pernambucco wood and C37 wiring ... what I had wanted years ago but not available then
jigster Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 But the way the azimuth is adjusted seems to affect the SRA (stylus rake angle) as well since the adjustment is not only on one plane. Think Durand tonearms' azimuth adjustment system is better with the straight arm in my opinion. Then again I haven't heard the Reed yet so..
alantcs2010 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 HI, Anybody knows who can maintenance or upgrade a Linn LP12 in Singapore other then the agent? I maybe getting some third party parts and is not sure that the Linn agent will do the upgrade for me. So I am asking this question.
seagull1624706132 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Hi Alan, If you need assistance for TT minor upgrade or setting, i can recommend you Joe. Joe is a hobbyist but very experienced in TT set-up - he has 7 tt at home. I have used his service once and is happy with his service. No harm checking with him whether he can handle your Linn tt His handphone is 97721508.

The may have done it before themselves, or know people who are experienced in LP12 mods + tuning.
