hentaixp Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Hi, I am thinking of getting anti cables and get rid of my prev cables. May I know what's your experience with Anti cables? Its reputation is like a giant killer at low end price. So good meh?
fengshenwee Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 My short experience with it is that the clarity of these cables are very low giving the impression that the bass is a bit fuller. I find it kills a lot of details and is not worth your time. Is also plain ugly if u ask me. Sorry I got no positive things about it to add. Maybe only thing I can add is it is really cheap thus so call VFM.

fengshenwee Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I can see a few forumers still using it. Maybe they got some positive thing to add. I think these anti cables are good for HT rear speakers because they are cheap and SQ is not that important.
cayinist Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I think there was an extensive thread on anti-cables.
suntan1624705871 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 They are the antithesis of Japanese cables like Oyaide and Acrolink which are the best ;D
Quest88 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 yup, long thread somewhere.. opposite to fsw, i had good results with anticables (speaker cables). detail level comparable to cables about $500 but of cos not the best. what's good about them is the speed and relative neutrality. what's bad is they are hard to manage, look ugly, hard to terminate (i used unterminated which gives me oxidation issue), and pick up EMI/RF easily. due to the EMI/RF issue, you can't even cross them with your power cords else the sound just becomes a mess. that's just in my system.. so i ran it upwards in the air then down to speaker terminals. thought it was a gd cable to use for interim to voice the system before u try out and move on to other cables. problem is, in the end you may get stuck to solid core copper cables like from nordost, xlo, etc.
Jsen Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Had used them bare as jumpers with my old speakers. Didn't really like them as they sound harsh in my system. Perhaps it's a mismatched then.

joyjoy Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I have 2 pairs of anti-cables. The first pair (from a mass order some years ago) was terminated with furutech banana connectors by Music Link, Shaw Towers, with instruction to solder the wire to the connector; I learnt this at echoloft from another mass order buyer. The termination cost much more than the cables. The cable has very good transparency, good dynamics and good soundstage. I liked it so much, regardless of its low cost, I bought a second used bi-wired pair. This used pair came with cheaper banana connectors (there is the word digital on it) with screwed connection without solder. The sound was harsh with none of the immediacy of my first pair, even after much burn-in. I put it down to the inferior connector and the screw connection having poor contact. I will put this 2nd pair to good use some day. I would say the anti-cable is very good and excellent value. The cable is a very stiff single core wire in a thin red covering. Music Link put on a blue wrap which looks better and gives added protection.
Bernie7 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 My experience with spkr anticable is good. I use it to bi-wire my monoblocks at the foot of each spkr. The sound is clean, detailed, musical and I have very good soundstage (excellent lateral and quite good depth). Being solid core copper, I believe the extreme hi freqs may not be as extended as multi-strand, but it has the solid core virtue of clean mids. Anticable is actually thick transformer wire, like those used in spkr coils and crossovers, so if it works in spkrs it should work well outside spkrs too. Of course ymmv. Do give it 100 hrs run in. Mine sounded like someone threw a thick blanket over my spkrs the first 20 hrs.
