Eliminating the passive crossover, and instead having amplification closer to, and tailored to each driver is clearly the most efficient solution. Unfortunately, I believe the very nature of this very male oriented hobby, is most satisfying with required participation from the listener. We cannot convince ourselves that we have the finest audio system in existence, unless and until we spend countless hours (and dollars), making it thus. For too long, the audio industry has been taking this simple human frailty to the bank. Perhaps, honest reviews such as this one, will be cause for introspection.
