Gee Emm Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Kevin 07 should get it, but he won't for the same reasons they got rid him before. Bishop as PM! A bit of vomit rose in my throat... Instant soft on! Graham
Super Mustud Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 The next round of that stoush is about to begin is it not! Its not over yet by a long shot. I will admit that you do not give up lost causes easily.
Two Flies Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I would love to see K Rudd as PM again. Just to see how some people on SNA who reckon he is a "sociopath" and a "maniac" would react. Apart from the fact that he is far more suitable than J Gillard for the top job in the land. My tuppence worth! Is it just me? Or do others consider that this whole debacle was maybe created by Gillard & Crean to make Kevin 07 look the bastard so he would lose credibility!?I think the worst thing Kevin 07 did (strategically) was to give up without a fight when Julia knifed him. Maybe he's coming back for round 2. I reckon he is... Would be interesting. My first question still stands (unless it's already been discussed & I missed it, probably) BtW. Mr Rabbit must have laughed so hard a bit of wee came out. Graham They didn't flick him because he is a greater nicer guy.
LuzArt Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Rudd resigns as Foreign MinisterRudd comes home and challenges for the top job Rudd fails to get the numbers and Juliar wins the bloodbath Rudd resignes from the Labour Party and becomes an Independent Rudd Crosses the floor Liberal/Rudd coalition forces a new election Liberals win and Tony Abbott becomes Prime Minister Move forward to 2013 and Tony Abbott is toppled by Julie Bishop for the Leadership Australia finally gets the Prime Minister it needs (and she's a bit of alright too!) Bishop? A bit of alright? What are you, the devil??

Mayhaps, but I don't think you've thought this through clearly enough, Julie Bishop ain't no ginger.
LuzArt Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Rudd is the only way Labor can win against Abbott. If Abbott makes it to an election that is, the polls aren't kind to him either. Knives will be out for him pretty quickly if Rudd becomes PM next week.
Aslan Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 They love their fishing down in Tassie and have been known to have a cleansing ale once-in-a-while [ for medicinal purposes only of course ] Realises that the computer screen is soaked in coffee after reading about the mouldy cheese sandwhich being alright.Grabs damp cloth and changes T-shirt Mate.........I though it common knowledge that I'm quite partial to a crusty blue vein!
rantan Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Touche mate.............. Mate.........I though it common knowledge that I'm quite partial to a crusty blue vein!
Saxon Hall Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Rudd is the only way Labor can win against Abbott. That pretty well sums it up. Rudd could possibly beat Abbott. Gillard has got a "Snowflakes chance in hell".
rantan Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I agree that Gillard is unelectable and as such would have no chance, but to go back to Rudd would be an unmitigated disaster. One could argue that whomever is leader and whatever they do or say, Labor is toast at the next election. That pretty well sums it up. Rudd could possibly beat Abbott. Gillard has got a "Snowflakes chance in hell".
mikey d Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 What happens in Canberra is just a smokescreen. It's a never ending melodrama of national proportions. You honestly don't believe that politicians run the country do you? Ask the mining magnates what happened to Rudd. Notice the ex-ACTU bovver boys in the cabinet. Big business & the unions signed a pact with the devil in the '80's. How does News Ltd report politics? If you believe mainstream commentary then you would believe that Bob Brown ran the country. Unfortunately this is not so. The power lies not in our capitol but in the boardrooms of our biggest corporate citizens.

I dunno rantan, I don't think Abbott and co have been banking on this. I don't think Abbott is very confident against Rudd, he'd happily take on Gillard, so in that IMO there is still a chance Labor can get back in.

To give the ALP the best chance of winning the next election, in your opinion who should be their leader?
rantan Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) ALMOST ANYONE, except Rudd or Gillard. { excluding Wayne Swan ] To give the ALP the best chance of winning the next election, in your opinion who should be their leader? Edit: Malcolm Turnbull would be good if he switched sides, but he isn't in the habit of heading lost causes. Edited February 22, 2012 by rantan
proftournesol Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 To give the ALP the best chance of winning the next election, in your opinion who should be their leader? John Curtin?
LogicprObe Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 You may well be correct mate, but I am now at the point where I need some Vallium............but I don't have any They gave me valium to ween me off pethidine..................it's quite addictive too!
mikey d Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I think that Rudd gave the Labor leadership a sense of intellectual gravitas, the first time since Keating was leader. Populism is the pursuit of both mainstream parties now. One can't accuse Abbott of have intellectual qualities. As much as Howard made my skin crawl, he had the leadership qualities that both parties are fruitlessly looking for.

Rudd was doing the same thing to his colleagues. Julia made a deal with the devil..........the Brown devil, where she took the blame for crap Green policy. They're scraping the bottom of the barrel now.
mikey d Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 They gave me valium to ween me off pethidine..................it's quite addictive too! Benzodiazepines are far more addictive than opioids. Valium might ween you off politics though!
LogicprObe Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Benzodiazepines are far more addictive than opioids. Valium might ween you off politics though! I don't think so. Gives a pretty good buzz when you take a lot of it!
Two Flies Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Edit: Malcolm Turnbull would be good if he switched sides, but he isn't in the habit of heading lost causes. I dunno about that he's warming a sit on the back bench over a little fiasco called ute gate. How he never seen Tony, Joe and Godwin sneaking up behind him mystifies me to this day.
Telecine Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 An interesting by-product of this stoush is that Bligh's electoral prospects in Queensland are going further south by the minute.

It's a means to an end.
Two Flies Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Turnbull operates the same way as Rudd. It's all about his place in history and nothing else. It's a means to an end. Yeah but my point was he should have seen those 3 coming a mile off.It was just all too easy like it fell in Turnbulls lap.
caddisgeek Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 To give the ALP the best chance of winning the next election, in your opinion who should be their leader? Bring back Latham, imagine having him go toe to toe with the Mad Monk having those two nut jobs slugging it out for 6 months would almost make life worth living
